Job summary

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) is seeking a Legal Counsel (Prosecution) to lead prosecutions of statutory offences under LTA’s regulatory purview. You will receive training in advocacy, court craft, criminal procedure and evidence, and you will support enforcement and investigation divisions.

You will liaise with the Attorney-General’s Chambers, the State Courts and the Singapore Police Force, ensuring forward-thinking legal perspectives on emerging transport technologies and policy

• Tertiary qualification in Law.
• Qualified Person under the Legal Profession Act or called to the Singapore Bar.

LEGAL COUNSEL (PROSECUTION)

What you will be working on

This Legal division provides legal services to various LTA divisions on land transport matters including the regulation of road traffic, autonomous vehicles, active mobility, point-to-point passenger transport and electric vehicle infrastructure. You will be involved in prosecuting statutory offences under the purview of the Land Transport Authority. These statutory offences fall under a wide variety of Acts and the corresponding subsidiary legislation such as the Road Traffic Act, Parking Places Act, Street Works Act, Active Mobility Act, Motor Vehicles (Third-Party Risks and Compensation) Act and Electric Vehicle Charging Act. Training in advocacy, court craft, criminal procedure and evidence will be provided. Additionally, you will also provide legal support and advice to enforcement and investigation divisions within the Land Transport Authority as well as liaise with the Attorney-General’s Chambers, the State Courts and Singapore Police Force. Given the emerging and disruptive nature of the technology in the matters that the Division deals with, you will be challenged to be forward-thinking to anticipate and address implications from a legal perspective.
