Job summary

Land Transport Authority in Singapore is seeking a Software System Engineer (ePIC Team) to develop and support AFC-related applications. You will design, develop, test, deploy and maintain secure enterprise applications, including GCC-hosted solutions, collaborating with diverse stakeholders.

The role involves gathering requirements, documenting artefacts and contributing to continuous improvement of dev/test/deploy practices, with a focus on reliability, performance and secure coding.

Qualifications

• Knowledge in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline with software development experience.
• Experience participating in at least one full software development lifecycle (SDLC).
• Hands-on experience developing enterprise applications using Java and Spring/Spring Boot.
• Experience in requirements analysis, application design, development, testing and integration.
• Experience with SQL, relational databases and JDBC/JPA/Hibernate.
• Familiarity with cloud computing, Docker, Kubernetes and microservices concepts.
• Experience with Gitlab, CI/CD and automated build/deployment.
• Experience with message queues or asynchronous messaging technologies.
• Ability to analyse technical problems systematically and develop practical solutions.
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly in written and spoken English.

What the role is:

Software System Engineer (ePIC Team)

What you will be working on:

You will be part of the ePayment Innovation Centre (ePIC) team, developing applications for the Authority’s Automated Fare Collection (AFC) systems.

You will design, develop, test, deploy and support secure and reliable applications, including applications hosted on the Government on Commercial Cloud (GCC) environment. You will work with developers, users, testers and other stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle.

• Experience with SQL, relational databases and database access technologies such as JDBC or JPA/Hibernate.
• Familiarity with cloud computing, Docker, Kubernetes and microservices concepts.
• Experience with software development tools and practices such as Gitlab, CI/CD and automated build/deployment.
• Experience with message queues or asynchronous messaging technologies.
• Ability to analyse technical problems systematically and develop practical solutions.
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly in written and spoken English and work effectively with different stakeholders.

Experience or knowledge that would be advantageous:

• AWS Services like Amazon ECS/Fargate, RDS and Lambda.
• Knowledge of cloud application security, including least-privilege access, encryption, secrets management, secure APIs, vulnerability scanning and remediation.
• Experience with AFC, high-volume transactions or other mission-critical systems.
• EMV and/or Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).
