Job summary

Land Transport Authority (LTA) in Singapore is seeking a Software System Engineer for the ePayment Innovation Centre (ePIC) team to develop applications for AFC systems. You will design, develop, test, deploy and support secure applications, including those hosted on GCC.

You will collaborate with developers, users and testers across the software development lifecycle, producing architecture and design documents and contributing to continuous improvement of development, testing and deployment

Qualifications

• Experience in at least one full SDLC with documentation.
• Hands-on Java and Spring Boot development.
• Experience with SQL and JDBC/Hibernate.
• Familiarity with cloud computing, Docker, Kubernetes and microservices.
• Experience with Gitlab, CI/CD and automated build/deploy.
• Experience with message queues or asynchronous messaging.
• Ability to communicate technical information in English.

What the role is

Software System Engineer (ePIC Team)

What you will be working on

You will be part of the ePayment Innovation Centre (ePIC) team, developing applications for the Authority’s Automated Fare Collection (AFC) systems.

You will design, develop, test, deploy and support secure and reliable applications, including applications hosted on the Government on Commercial Cloud (GCC) environment. You will work with developers, users, testers and other stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle.

What You'll Do:

• Gather and analyse requirements, design, develop, test and maintain software applications.
• Prepare and maintain software lifecycle artefacts, including architecture and design documents, interface specifications, source code, test specifications, operations and maintenance manuals, and other required technical documentation.
• Troubleshoot application and environment issues, investigate and resolve defects, and improve application quality, reliability and performance.
• Participate in application build, deployment and production support activities.
• Collaborate with developers, users, testers and other stakeholders to clarify requirements and resolve design, integration and testing issues.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of development, testing and deployment practices.

What we are looking for

• Knowledge in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline with software development experience.
• Experience participating in at least one full software development lifecycle (SDLC), including preparation and maintenance of relevant technical documentation.
• Hands-on experience developing enterprise applications using Java and Spring/Spring Boot.
• Experience in requirements analysis, application design, development, testing and integration.
• Experience with SQL, relational databases and database access technologies such as JDBC or JPA/Hibernate.
• Familiarity with cloud computing, Docker, Kubernetes and microservices concepts.
• Experience with software development tools and practices such as Gitlab, CI/CD and automated build/deployment.
• Experience with message queues or asynchronous messaging technologies.
• Ability to analyse technical problems systematically and develop practical solutions.
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly in written and spoken English and work effectively with different stakeholders.

Experience or knowledge that would be advantageous:

• AWS Services like Amazon ECS/Fargate, RDS and Lambda.
• Knowledge of cloud application security, including least-privilege access, encryption, secrets management, secure APIs, vulnerability scanning and remediation.
• Experience with AFC, high-volume transactions or other mission-critical systems.
• EMV and/or Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).
