Job summary

The Land Transport Authority in Singapore seeks a Senior/Executive Engineer (Solution Architect – Cloud System and Ticketing Equipment) to lead the modernisation of the AFC system. You will drive end-to-end design, governance, and security assessments across payment, backend, and cloud layers for a national-scale system.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years in solution architecture, systems analysis/design, or complex application development.
• Experience with cloud-based systems and e-payment technologies, particularly in fare collection contexts.

Responsibilities

• Analyse business and system requirements and translate them into high-level and detailed technical specifications and interface designs.
• Perform impact analysis for change requests and system enhancements, ensuring minimal disruption to mission-critical AFC operations.
• Architect and design secure, scalable, and high-availability system solutions for AFC and payment systems, including EMV-based and card-based models.
• Lead cloud solutioning and migration strategies, aligning with LTA’s cloud adoption roadmap.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop robust and future-ready solutions.
• Produce and maintain architecture diagrams, API/interface specifications, integration patterns, and designs for multi-vendor environments.
• Contribute to architecture governance, cloud best practices, security controls, and resiliency planning.
• Conduct solution walkthroughs, architecture reviews, and technical presentations for stakeholders.

What the role is:

Senior/ Executive Engineer (Solution Architect – Cloud System and Ticketing Equipment)

What you will be working on:

We are seeking an experienced and committed Solution Architect to play a key role in the modernisation of Singapore’s Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) system to deliver seamless, secure, and scalable public transport experience.

As part of the System Architecture and Assurance Division, you will drive end-to-end solution design, architecture governance, and technical assessments across complex integrations involving payment systems, backend processing, cloud services, and system security. You will be instrumental in driving design best practices and ensuring system reliability at a national scale.

What You Will Do

• Analyse business and system requirements and translate them into high-level and detailed technical specifications and interface designs
• Performtechnical impact analysisfor change requests and system enhancements, ensuring minimal disruption to mission-critical AFC operations
• Architect and design secure, scalable, and high-availability system solutions for AFC and payment systems, including those usingEMV, open-loop standards, account-based ticketing and card-based ticketing models
• Lead cloud solutioning and migration strategies, ensuring alignment with LTA’s cloud adoption roadmap
• Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders (project teams, software development teams, operations) and external partners (vendors, financial institutions) to develop robust and future-ready solutions
• Produce and maintain architecture diagrams, API/interface specifications, integration patterns, and designs for complex multi-vendor and multi-system environments
• Contribute to architecture governance, cloud best practices, security controls, and system resiliency planning
• Conduct solution walkthroughs, architecture reviews, and technical presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

What we are looking for:

• Knowledge in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
• At least 3 years of experience in solution architecture, systems analysis/design, or complex application development
• Proven experience designing or supporting cloud-based systems
• Familiarity with e-payment technologies, particularly in the context of fare collection, transaction clearing, and EMV-based systems
• Strong analytical and communication skills, system design analysis and ability to resolve complex multi-stakeholder issues
• Experience with stakeholder management and working in complex, multi-vendor environments

Bonus Skills:

• Cloud certifications (e.g. AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate/Professional) are strongly preferred
• Strong knowledge of security architecture, including secure data flows, tokenisation, encryption, and compliance standards
• Hands-on exposure to DevSecOps, CI/CD, containerisation (e.g., ECS), serverless architecture, or data streaming pipelines
• Curious and self-motivated to stay updated with new technologies such as 5G, AI/ML, IoT, or real-time analytics.
