Job summary

Hamilton Barnes is seeking a Linux System Engineer to support large-scale production infrastructure across data centre and colocation environments in Singapore. This hands-on role focuses on Linux troubleshooting, server hardware, physical connectivity and production support in live environments.

Applicants should be comfortable diagnosing issues from the Linux command line and coordinating with vendors, field engineers and ISPs to maintain high uptime and robust operations.

Qualifications

• Hands-on Linux/Unix command-line experience in infrastructure or production environments.
• Strong troubleshooting and fault-isolation skills across Linux, server hardware and infrastructure.
• Experience coordinating with vendors, field engineers, Smart Hands teams, colocation providers or ISPs.

Responsibilities

• Use Linux command-line tools to diagnose server, connectivity and infrastructure issues within live production environments.
• Perform Linux-based diagnostics including connectivity testing, log analysis, interface checks and fault isolation.
• Troubleshoot physical server hardware, physical connectivity, optics, fibre and related production infrastructure issues.
• Perform server break/fix activities and coordinate troubleshooting across hardware, cabling and circuits.
• Coordinate Smart Hands / Remote Hands vendors and onsite technicians during incidents, maintenance and implementations.
• Work with ISPs, colocation providers, vendors and internal engineering teams to resolve production issues.
• Track infrastructure requests, incidents, inventory and operational updates through JIRA and internal systems.
• Support server, circuit and spares inventory management and infrastructure audits.
• Execute maintenance activities in accordance with MOPs and operational procedures.
• Maintain accurate technical and operational documentation.
• Support mission-critical production environments with a strong focus on uptime and operational standards.

We are currently seeking Linux System Engineers to support large-scale production infrastructure across data centre and colocation environments within one of the world's largest hyperscale infrastructure environments.

This is a hands-on infrastructure operations role combining Linux troubleshooting, server hardware, physical connectivity and production support. We are particularly interested in engineers who are comfortable working from the Linux command line to diagnose server, network and infrastructure issues within live production environments.

Responsibilities

• Use Linux command-line tools to diagnose server, connectivity and infrastructure issues within live production environments
• Perform Linux-based diagnostics including connectivity testing, log analysis, interface checks and fault isolation
• Troubleshoot physical server hardware, physical connectivity, optics, fibre and related production infrastructure issues

Experience:

• Strong hands-on Linux/Unix command-line experience within infrastructure or production environments
• Comfortable using Linux to troubleshoot network connectivity, interfaces, processes, logs and server-related issues
• Experience within Linux Infrastructure, Data Centre Operations, Server Operations, Systems Administration or Infrastructure Operations
• Experience troubleshooting physical server hardware within production environments
• Understanding of fibre, optics, cabling and physical connectivity
• Strong troubleshooting and fault-isolation skills across Linux, server hardware and infrastructure
• Experience working with JIRA or similar ticketing platforms
• Experience coordinating with vendors, field engineers, Smart Hands teams, colocation providers or ISPs
• Experience following MOPs, operational procedures and technical implementation documentation
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently within fast-paced production environments
