Job summary

SD Legal is expanding its Asia team and seeks a junior-to-mid-level funds lawyer to support the Head of Legal on APAC transactions, fund formation, and related documentation. You will draft, review, and negotiate fund and product agreements, while collaborating with product and finance teams and delivering governance and compliance support for new product launches.

Qualifications

• Top-tier law firm training background preferred.
• 3–6 PQE in funds or related practice.
• Experience with fund formation and fund transactions desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead role supporting Head of Legal on transactions across APAC, including fund formation, structuring, and agreement negotiations from origination to closure.
• Draft, review and negotiate fund/product documentation such as distribution and marketing/sales agreements.
• Collaborate with product and finance teams and provide governance and compliance support, including new product launches to distribution.

Our Client is a globally focused fund. They are expanding the team in Asia and now require the need for a junior-mid-level funds lawyer.

Focus of work

• Transactional = 60%
• Commercial = 20%
• Corporate = 20%

Job Description

• You will play a lead role, supporting the Head of Legal with transactions across the APAC region. This will involve the formation of funds, as well as structuring and the negotiation of various agreements from origination to closure.
• You will draft, review, and negotiate fund/product related documentation and agreements such as distribution and marketing/sales.
• You will work closely with product and finance teams, as well as offering key compliance and governance support. This includes new product launches through to distribution.

Requirements

• Excellent educational background and training at a top tier law firm
• 3 - 6 PQE
• Background in funds / fund formation essential
• Commercial and strategic experience in helping to grow an office / region
• Experience in corporate led solutions for growing businesses in Asia - desirable
