Job summary

CanWorkOne.SG Employment Pte Ltd in Singapore seeks an experienced Legal Counsel to support EPC projects across the region. You will provide legal and commercial advice on contracts, procurement and project-related matters, with a strong focus on EPC contracts, claims and risk management.

The role involves drafting and negotiating EPC and related agreements, reviewing subcontract and supply contracts, supporting project teams in claims management, and advising on corporate matters such as

Qualifications

• Degree in Law and qualified to practise in a recognised jurisdiction.
• 8–12 years of PQE in legal practice and/or in-house roles.
• Strong experience in construction, infrastructure, engineering or EPC projects.
• Good knowledge of construction and commercial law, and contract management.
• Proven experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating EPC contracts and related project agreements.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal and commercial advice on a broad range of commercial, contractual and project matters.
• Review, draft and negotiate EPC contracts, subcontract, supply and consultancy agreements, and NDAs.
• Support project teams in contract administration, claims management and dispute avoidance/resolution.

Legal Counsel – EPC / Engineering Projects

Singapore | Permanent

An established engineering company involved in large-scale Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) projects is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to provide legal and commercial support across regional operations and project activities.

This role will partner closely with business and project teams on a wide range of contractual, corporate, commercial and project-related matters, with a strong focus on EPC contracts, claims and risk management.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and support to business units on a broad range of commercial, contractual, corporate and project-related matters.
• Review, draft and negotiate various agreements, including EPC contracts, subcontract agreements, supply agreements, consultancy agreements, NDAs and other commercial contracts.
• Support project teams in contract administration, commercial matters, claims management and dispute avoidance/resolution.
• Identify and mitigate legal and contractual risks throughout the project lifecycle.
• Advise internal stakeholders on legal implications relating to project execution, procurement, variations, claims and contractual obligations.
• Support corporate matters including the establishment, maintenance and closure of subsidiaries, branch offices, joint ventures and project entities.
• Coordinate and manage external legal counsels and consultants where required.
• Monitor changes in relevant laws, regulations and industry practices impacting the business.
• Develop and improve contract templates, legal processes and governance frameworks.
• Provide legal support on ad-hoc matters and strategic business initiatives.

Requirements

• Degree in Law and qualified to practise in a recognised jurisdiction.
• 8–12 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in legal practice and/or in-house legal roles.
• Strong experience in construction, infrastructure, engineering or EPC projects.
• Good knowledge of construction law, commercial law and contract management.
• Proven experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating EPC contracts and related project agreements.
• Familiarity with project claims, dispute management and risk mitigation would be advantageous.
• Able to work independently and partner effectively with business, project and management teams.
• Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
