Job summary

Horiba Instruments (S) Pte Ltd in Singapore is seeking a qualified legal and compliance professional to support security trade control compliance, contract matters, dispute management, and corporate compliance programmes. This role collaborates with Headquarters in Kyoto on legal and export control matters to ensure alignment with group policies and regulatory requirements.

You will oversee export control processes in SAP, manage contracts, provide training, and participate in global meetings.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in legal, international business, business administration, supply chain management or equivalent.
• At least 5 years of experience in trade compliance.
• Experience in law firms or in-house legal/contracts review and management.
• Awareness of geopolitical situation in the region.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Handle and support Security Trade Control (Export Control) for the Southeast Asia region.
• Oversee management and implementation of security trade control requirements.
• Manage end-user list notifications, verification processes, and follow-up actions.
• Administer export control-related SAP processes including classification and licence release.
• Consult with HQ Legal and Export Control teams for transactions involving sensitive countries or organisations.
• Conduct training on security trade control for employees, especially sales teams.
• Prepare and submit annual sales reports and participate in global/Asia export control meetings.

Job description

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting security trade control compliance, business contract matters, dispute management, and corporate compliance programmes. This role will work closely with Headquarters in Kyoto on legal and export control matters to ensure alignment with group policies, regulatory requirements, and business needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Handle and support Security Trade Control (Export Control) for the Southeast Asia region
• Oversee the overall management and implementation of security trade control requirements across the Company.
• Manage concerned end-user list notifications, verification processes, and follow-up actions where required.
• Administer export control-related processes in SAP, including material creation, classification, extension, manufacturer confirmation, and export licence release following background checks and approval from Headquarters.
• Consult with and obtain approval from the HQ Legal and Export Control team for transactions involving concerned countries ormilitary-related organisations.
• Conduct regular training and communicate security trade control updates to employees, particularly sales teams, to promote compliant business transactions.
• Prepare and submit the annual sales report to Headquarters and participate in Global and Asia Export Control meetings, where applicable.

Responsible in coordinate legal and compliance matters

• Manage contract-related matters, including there view of non-disclosure agreements, commercial agreements, and other business contracts, as well as contract administration and record management.
• Support the management and resolution of legal disputes in coordination with relevant internal and external stakeholders.
• Manage corporate compliance matters, including anti-trust and anti-bribery requirements, and conduct regular legal and compliance training for employees and affiliates in Southeast Asia.
• Oversee Personal Data Protection responsibilities and ensure compliance with PDPA requirements, including conducting regular assessments to identify gaps and mitigate data protection risks.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Degree/Diploma in legal, international business, business administration, supply chain managementor equivalent.
• At least 5 years of experience in dealing with trade compliance.
• Some experience of working in law firms or as an in-house legal, business contract review and management.
• An awareness on thegeo-political situation in the region.
• Proficient in basic functionalities of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Able to multi-task and self-motivated.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong communication skills.
