Job summary

Qualifications

• Education in Law, or Risk Management, Compliance, or a related discipline.
• Fresh graduates or candidates with 1–3 years of relevant experience in a law firm, in-house legal team, or corporate risk/compliance function.
• Admission to the Singapore Bar (or an equivalent common law jurisdiction) is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Provide foundational legal support to internal functions (HR, Admin, Procurement, Operations).
• Review routine contracts, NDAs, and standard documents under supervision.
• Coordinate with external counsel and consultants on projects and general matters.
• Assist in ERM implementation, monitoring, and update of risk workflows.
• Support RegCo and ESG coordination with regulatory bodies and consultants.
• Track risk action logs and follow up on deliverables across departments.

Meranti Power Pte Ltd (MP), a fully owned subsidiary of the Energy Market Authority, manages and operates a new power generation station on Jurong Island. We are seeking committed individuals for the position of Legal and Risk Associate (1-year contract).

Job Responsibilities

This entry-level, hybrid role offers fresh graduates or early-career professionals practical exposure across in-house legal support, Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), regulatory compliance (RegCo), and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) execution. Working under the guidance of senior team leads, the candidate will provide foundational legal assistance, track risk workflows, and support administrative coordination across internal business units, external consultants, and power sector regulatory bodies.

Legal Support

• Assist the Senior Legal Counsel in providing practical support and advisory assistance to internal functions, including HR, Administration, Procurement, and Operations
• Assist in reviewing routine commercial contracts, non-disclosure agreements, and standard corporate documentation under staff supervision
• Coordinate administrative workflows and scheduling with external legal counsel and consultants on designated projects and general legal matters

ERM, RegCo, and ESG Support

• Assist the Principal Manager in executing, monitoring, and updating MP's ERM framework
• Support lead staff in coordinating with external regulatory bodies and appointed consultants on RegCo and ESG matters, including scheduling, facilitating and tracking action items
• Assist in monitoring risk action logs, tracking key performance indicators, and following up with internal departments on outstanding deliverables

Job Requirements:

• Education in Law, or Risk Management, Compliance, or a related discipline
• Fresh graduates or candidates with 1-3 years of relevant experience in a law firm, in-house legal team, or corporate risk/compliance function
• Admission to the Singapore Bar (or an equivalent common law jurisdiction) is an advantage
• Diplomatic, stakeholder management, and facilitation skills.
• Excellent written and spoken English with the ability to convey complex information plainly.
• Willing to work in Jurong Island.
