Job summary

Success Human Resource Centre Pte Ltd in Singapore is seeking a Legal Counsel with 2–4 years post-qualification experience to manage contract drafting and review, provide legal advice, and support regulatory compliance across the group's operations.

The role involves negotiating agreements, liaising with business units, monitoring changes in laws, and assisting with training on ethics, conduct, and internal policies. Permanent position, HarbourFront office, 8:30am–5:30pm, SGD 4,000–5,000.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Laws or Diploma in Legal Studies with 2–4 years post-qualification experience.
• Licensed to practice law in Singapore, UK or other common law jurisdiction.
• Strong knowledge of contract law; experience drafting and reviewing contracts.

Responsibilities

• Provide advice, negotiate, draft and review a wide range of contractual agreements.
• Correspond with business units for all contractual requirements, legal advice, and risk considerations.
• Support regulatory requirements and changes including competition law, data privacy, and other laws.
• Litigation tracking and management for Group Companies as advised by Head Office.
• Contribute to and support annual Legal & Compliance training for staff across South Asia.

Job Responsibilities

• Legal
• Provide advice, negotiate, draft and review a wide range of diverse contractual agreements.
• Correspond with business units for all types of contractual requirements, legal advice, sensitizing on legal risks, implications of new laws and process requirements (where necessary).
• Compliance
• Law & Regulations: Support and keep track of regulatory requirements and changes including competition law, anti-trust, anti-bribery, environmental health & safety, data privacy etc.
• Litigation Tracking & Management of Group Companies: As advised by Head Office
• Code of Conduct: Annual Review, Pledge collection etc.
• Contribute to and support conduct of annual Legal & Compliance Training (on-site and/or online via MS TEAMS) by creating and providing training to staff of Group Companies in South Asia on topics such as Ethics, Code of Conduct & Internal Policies, Rules; Anti-Trust/Competition Laws, Anti-Bribery Laws, Data Privacy Laws, Economic Sanctions etc.
• Others
• Liaise with external law firms in Singapore and in the APAC Region when necessary;
• Keep abreast of industry-specific regulations and proactively communicate with the team and to business units on applicable laws and regulations.
• To perform ad hoc duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB), or a Diploma In Legal Studies, with 2-4 years of post-qualification experience, gained either in-house or through a reputable law firm
• Licensed to practice law in Singapore, UK or other common law jurisdiction. Experienced Paralegals will be considered for the role
• Good understanding of Contract law and experience in contract drafting and review.
• Prior experience in the shipping industry or reputable law firms and/or relevant experience in maritime, shipping law will be an added advantage
• Knowledge of Anti-Trust/Competition Laws will be strongly regarded
• Capable of working independently with minimal support
• Excellent computer skills for MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Access for Windows PCs)
• Good written and spoken English
• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and presentation ability
• The ideal candidate is a team-player with the ability to see beyond his/ her job-scope and work with colleagues to realise business goals and targets
• Enthusiastic, Meticulous, analytical and solutions-oriented.
• Good interpersonal and writing skills
