Job summary

sggovterp invites applications for an academic role in cybersecurity, teaching across multiple topics and guiding students to reconstruct knowledge. The appointee will participate in curriculum development, new course design, and consultancy projects, with emphasis on innovative teaching and student mentorship.

The position involves administrative duties related to teaching and institutional initiatives, with expectations to be resourceful, communicative, and proactive in pursuing enhancements

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience in cybersecurity domains including web and application programming, security testing, risk assessment, threat management and incident response.
• Passionate about education, mentoring youths and adult learners.
• Self-driven, able to work independently and in teams.
• Good knowledge of Linux and Windows environments.
• Familiar with IT security standards, frameworks and audit practices.

Responsibilities

• Conduct lessons and develop teaching materials and assessments for youths and adult learners.
• Develop and review cybersecurity curriculum and contribute to new courses and consultancy projects.
• Stay current with cybersecurity trends and support strategic initiatives through committee work.
• Lead process improvements and manage new courses in collaboration with the School/Institution.

The job of an academic is challenging and meaningful. Not only will he/she has both the knowledge and working experience, he/she must also possess the ability to deconstruct the knowledge and experience, guiding students to reconstruct them as their own knowledge. He/she must also possess a passion for working with youths, nurturing them, and moulding their characters. There will be opportunities to develop the curriculum, introduce new courses as well as be involved in consultancy and other applied research projects. Administrative work related to teaching and School/Institutional strategic initiatives will be an important part of the job too. Successful candidates will be expected to be resourceful and innovative with initiative and good communication skills.

[What you will be working on]

Cybersecurity

The appointee must be competent to teach in at least three of the following subjects:

• Secure Coding
• Applied Cryptography
• Industrial Control Systems / OT Security
• Malware Reverse Engineering
• Ethical Hacking and Defences
• Operational Technology Security
• IOT and Cloud Security

Responsibilities

• Conduct lessons, create teaching and assessment materials, and facililitate learning of students (youths and adult learners)
• Develop and maintain new/existing teaching curriculum. This includes regular review of existing curriculum and make recommendations on areas of improvements that would enhance students' learning, performance and employability.
• Keep current and abreast of trends and developments of Cybersecurity
• Support the School' strategic initiatives through involvement in committee work and projects such as process improvement projects, development and management of new courses

[What we are looking for]

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience in either web and application programming, application security/penetration testing, risk & vulnerability assessment, threat management and defence, security operations and incident response with practical hands-on experience or computer/mobile forensics and investigation.
• Passionate about education and possess strong interest in teaching and mentoring both youths and adult learners.
• Self-driven, independent and possess readiness to work as a team.
• Good knowledge of both Linux and Windows-based environments.
• Familiar with the various IT security standards and frameworks, IT best practices, IT security compliance and audit standards.

Successful candidate will be offered a 2-year contract in the first instance.
