Job summary
Vertical Institute Pte. Ltd. is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to provide technical leadership for a lean engineering team building systems that support our learning platform and internal operations.
This hands-on leadership role covers software development, system architecture, technical decision-making, engineering standards, mentoring, integrations, automation, and AI-powered solutions. Prior Lead/Principal/Tech Lead experience is essential.
Qualifications
- Proven experience at Lead/Principal/Tech Lead level.
- Strong full-stack or backend software engineering background.
- Experience building production-grade web apps and systems.
- Strong understanding of architecture, DB design, API design, and performance.
- Experience making technical/architectural decisions for scalable systems.
- Hands-on programming and software development skills.
- Experience with testing, code reviews, docs, version control, and CI/CD.
- Experience mentoring engineers and providing technical leadership.
Responsibilities
- Set technical direction and engineering standards.
- Design scalable, secure, maintainable systems.
- Make architecture decisions based on business needs.
- Review designs and code.
- Identify and manage technical debt and risks.
- Partner with CEO to develop engineering roadmap.
- Design, develop, test, and maintain production-grade apps and backends.
- Lead and mentor the engineering team and review work.
- Integrate LMS, CRM, payment, analytics, and SaaS platforms.
- Develop AI-powered features and automation initiatives.
