Job summary

QUESS SINGAPORE seeks a Lead / Principal Test Development Engineer to drive quality engineering, test automation, platform reliability, and performance validation for our FinTech platforms in Singapore.

You will lead testing strategy, mentor QE teams, and collaborate with Software, Product, Data, DevOps, Security, and business stakeholders across Singapore and China.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in CS/SE/IT or related.
• 5-10 years in software testing or test development.
• Experience onsite in China and Singapore.

Responsibilities

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead / Principal Test Development Engineers to drive quality engineering, test automation, platform reliability, and performance validation for our next-generation FinTech platforms.

The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience working in both China and Singapore, collaborating with multinational engineering, product, and business teams across different time zones and cultures. You will play a critical role in ensuring the quality, scalability, security, and reliability of high‑transaction financial systems, e‑commerce platforms, cloud‑native applications, and digital payment solutions.

As a senior individual contributor, you will lead testing strategy and technical innovation while partnering closely with Software Engineering, Product Management, Data Engineering, DevOps, Security, and Business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Test Strategy & Leadership

• Define and drive the overall test strategy for enterprise‑scale FinTech products and services.
• Establish quality standards, testing frameworks, release governance, and best practices across multiple development teams.
• Act as a technical leader and mentor for Quality Engineering and Automation Engineers.
• Collaborate with geographically distributed teams across Singapore, China, and other global locations.

Test Development & Automation

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable automated testing frameworks for:

• Web applications

  Mobile applications

  APIs and microservices

  Event‑driven systems

  Cloud‑native platforms

• Lead automation initiatives using Python or Java‑based testing frameworks.
• Implement CI/CD quality gates and continuous testing practices.
• Drive automated regression, integration, end‑to‑end, and system testing.

E‑Commerce & FinTech Platform Testing

• Validate business‑critical workflows including:

• Customer onboarding

  Payment processing

  Digital wallets

  Merchant services

  Lending platforms

  Rewards and loyalty systems

  Order management and transaction processing

• Ensure accuracy of financial calculations, settlement processes, reconciliation engines, and reporting services.
• Verify system compliance with security, audit, and regulatory requirements.

Cloud & Distributed Systems Testing

• Design testing solutions for cloud‑native applications deployed on AWS, Azure, Alibaba Cloud, Tencent Cloud, or Google Cloud.
• Validate highly scalable microservices and distributed architectures.
• Test containerized environments utilizing Docker and Kubernetes.
• Support resilience, failover, disaster recovery, and platform reliability testing.

Performance & Reliability Engineering

• Design and execute:

• Performance testing

  Load testing

  Stress testing

  Scalability testing

  Capacity planning exercises

• Analyze bottlenecks and work with engineering teams to improve platform responsiveness and throughput.
• Develop performance monitoring dashboards and test reporting solutions.

Data & API Quality

• Validate data quality across transactional and analytical systems.
• Design API testing strategies covering:

• Functional testing

  Security testing

  Integration testing

  Contract testing

• Ensure consistency and integrity of data across multiple systems and services.

Production Quality & Incident Management

• Support root cause analysis for production incidents.
• Drive defect prevention initiatives and continuous quality improvement.
• Develop quality metrics, KPIs, and engineering dashboards.
• Improve production stability through proactive testing and monitoring.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Related disciplines

• 5-10 years of experience in software testing, quality engineering, or test development.
• Proven experience working onsite in both China & Singapore
• Demonstrated experience collaborating with multinational and cross‑functional teams.
• Experience in China FinTech, E‑commerce, Digital Payments, Banking Technology, or SaaS platforms.
• Experience supporting large‑scale China e‑commerce platforms with high concurrent transactions.
• Experience testing payment gateways, digital wallets, lending products, or trading platforms.
• Experience with cloud‑native architectures and microservices.
• Working knowledge of Kafka, event streaming, and distributed messaging systems.
• Exposure to security testing and financial regulatory requirements.
• Experience working within multicultural Chinese and Singaporean engineering environments.
• Mandarin language proficiency to effectively collaborate with China‑based teams and stakeholders.
