Lead Engineer – Test Automation (Fixed Term Contract)
We are seeking an accomplished Lead Engineer – Test Automation to drive the bank’s test automation strategy across high-impact digital and core banking initiatives. As part of a newly established team reporting to the Chief Architect, you will lead the development of scalable automation frameworks, mentor QA teams, and ensure delivery of secure, high-quality software across mission‑critical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute a comprehensive QA automation strategy aligned with enterprise goals and banking compliance standards.
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of automated testing frameworks for both frontend and backend applications.
- Ensure automation solutions are scalable, secure, and performance‑optimized to support enterprise banking systems.
- Collaborate with development, architecture, DevOps, and product teams to ensure testing is integrated seamlessly into agile workflows and CI/CD pipelines.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to QA engineers, promoting best practices in test automation and quality engineering.
- Oversee test planning, risk assessments, defect triaging, and mitigation strategies across automation efforts.
- Champion continuous improvement by evaluating new tools, frameworks, and innovations in the automation landscape.
- Maintain strong documentation practices for test cases, coverage metrics, and automation standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 8+ years of hands‑on experience in test automation, preferably in banking, fintech, or regulated environments.
- Demonstrated leadership in QA roles with a proven track record in designing and managing large‑scale automation projects.
- In‑depth understanding of banking platforms, digital payment systems, and security protocols.
- Expertise in automation frameworks such as Selenium, Appium, JUnit, and Testing.
- Strong experience in CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar platforms.
- Proficiency in API testing and automation, using tools like Postman, RestAssured, or SoapUI.
- Familiarity with cloud‑based testing environments, DevOps practices, and Agile methodologies.
- Working knowledge of code versioning tools (e.g., Git), and test management platforms (e.g., JIRA, Zephyr).
- Strong analytical thinking and problem‑ving skills.
- Ability to lead cross‑functional teams, manage stakeholder expectations, and maintain high‑quality deliverables.
- Clear and effective communication across technical and non‑technical audiences.
