Job summary

NUS HIGH SCHOOL OF MATHEMATICS AND SCIENCE is seeking an Assistant Head / Teacher for Physics & Engineering to drive an integrated 6-year curriculum and inspire students aged 12+ to 18. The role emphasizes innovative teaching methods, including IT-enabled and differentiated learning, with opportunities to mentor student research projects.

The successful candidate will lead department initiatives, contribute to CCA, and support Head of Department in curriculum design and evaluation.

Qualifications

• A good Bachelor’s or higher Degree in Physics or Engineering.
• Possess a relevant professional teaching qualification (or PGDE) will be an advantage.
• Competent in teaching Physics at GCE O-Level content or GCE A-Level H2 content.
• Knowledge in Astronomy and able to support Astronomy CCA will be an advantage.
• Driven and able to support Head of Department to lead the department in designing, implementing and evaluating an integrated 6-year Physics & Engineering curriculum.
• Research experience in Physics or Engineering areas and ability to guide students in research projects will be advantageous.

• Participate in planning, development and teaching of an integrated 6-year curriculum in Physics & Engineering.
• Adopt innovative pedagogies such as IT-enabled, differentiated, collaborative and learner-focused teaching.
• Initiate and mentor research projects with students.
• Support learning needs and character development of high-ability learners aged 12+ to 18.
• Contribute as an effective Co-curricular Activities (CCA) teacher and form-teacher.
