Job summary

NUS High School of Mathematics and Science in Singapore invites applications for the role of Assistant Head of Department, Math & Statistics. The position focuses on leading the development and delivery of a seamless 6-year curriculum and fostering excellence in high-ability learners.

You will work with staff to implement innovative pedagogy, mentor research projects, and contribute as a form-teacher and CCA mentor, while aligning with school-wide strategic planning.

Qualifications

• A good Bachelor’s or higher degree in Mathematics/Applied Mathematics.
• Competent in teaching Mathematics at GCE O-Level and/or GCE A-Level H2 and/or H3 content.
• Driven and able to support Head of Department to lead the department in designing, implementing and evaluating an integrated 6-year Math & Statistics curriculum.
• Able to collaborate with key personnel, stakeholders and external partners in curriculum innovation and strategic planning at the school level.
• Experience in curriculum and/or management work in secondary schools or junior colleges would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the integrated 6-year Math & Statistics curriculum.
• Mentor and supervise Co-curricular Activities (CCA) teachers and form-teachers.
• Plan, develop and implement the curriculum with innovative pedagogies and IT-enabled learning.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and external partners in curriculum innovation and strategic planning.
• Support learning needs and character development of high-ability learners aged 12+ to 18 years.

ASSISTANT Head of Department

in the following subject: Math & Statistics

We are looking for candidates who possess a relevant professional teaching qualification (or Post-Graduate Diploma Education equivalent) and

• have a passion in the relevant teaching subjects and inspire students to love the subjects via teaching and role modelling
• can participate and contribute to the planning, development and implementation of an integrated 6-year curriculum in the relevant teaching subjects
• are effective within and outside the classroom, adopt innovative pedagogies such as IT-enabled learning, differentiated learning, collaborative learning and learner-focused interaction
• can initiate and mentor research projects
• are able to provide for the learning needs and character development of high-ability learners ranging from 12+ to 18 years of age
• are able to contribute as an effective Co-curricular Activities (CCA) teacher and form-teacher
