Job summary

Grab is seeking a Lead Software Engineer for FundsCore/Payments to drive the architecture and delivery of regional-scale payments platforms across SEA. You will lead high-velocity, compliant services handling auth, capture, settlement, reconciliations, and payouts, while guiding multi-country, multi-currency needs and ensuring reliability and security.

You will collaborate with Product, Risk, Compliance, Finance, and country teams, reporting to the Head of Engineering, FundsCore.

Qualifications

Degree in CS or related; master's preferred.
8+ years software experience with 3+ in senior/lead roles.
Strong in Java, Go or Python and distributed systems.
Experience with payments: auth/capture, settlement, ledger, payouts.
Security, PCI DSS, encryption and compliance familiarity.
Cloud and multi-region multi-tenant environments; SRE practices.

Responsibilities

Own design and delivery of mission-critical payment systems with high availability and low latency.
Define core payments architecture and platformization with stable APIs and data models.
Build integrations with card networks, banks, and real-time rails.
Lead reliability, security, compliance, and cost efficiency initiatives with SRE and security teams.
Drive regionalization across currencies and regulatory needs with safe rollouts.
Mentor engineers and set coding and testing standards; lead architecture reviews.
