Job summary

Grab is seeking a Principal Engineer for Payments to lead end-to-end architecture across the Grab ecosystem, including in-app wallet, online checkouts, and merchant payments. You will set technical vision, ensure fault-tolerant services, and drive multi-country rollouts.

You will collaborate with Product, Risk, Compliance, Finance, and country teams, owning design docs, architecture reviews, and standards. This role reports to the Head of Engineering, FundsCore, with 5-day onsite work at the

Qualifications

10+ years in software with 5+ years in senior/lead roles delivering complex systems.
Hands-on experience with payments (auth/capture, settlement, reconciliation, ledger) and idempotency.
Strong coding discipline in Java, Go, or Python and testing.

Responsibilities

Own design and delivery of mission-critical payment systems with high availability and low latency.
Define core payments architecture and drive platformization with stable APIs and data models.
Lead regionalization across currency, localization, and regulatory needs with safe rollouts.
