Job summary

the russell collective pte. ltd. is seeking a Technical Lead/Senior Engineer to own high-impact features from concept to production. You will mentor engineers, set architectural standards, and drive frontend and backend excellence using Vue 3, TypeScript, and AWS Serverless. Strong communication and scalable design are required.

Responsibilities include guiding cloud architecture with AWS CDK, building REST APIs, and ensuring robust data models across DynamoDB and SQL databases.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proven track record of technical leadership and mentoring engineers.
• Strong ability to articulate trade-offs and architectural decisions.
• Advanced proficiency in TypeScript and modern JavaScript.
• Full-stack experience with Node.js, Vue 3, REST APIs, and cloud architectures.
• Hands-on AWS Serverless experience including Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, SNS, EventBridge, IAM, CloudWatch.
• Database design with DynamoDB and SQL databases; serverless and event-driven architectures.
• CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and production deployments.

What You’ll Be Doing

Technical Leadership & Mentorship

• Take ownership of high-impact products and features, guiding them from initial concept through production deployment.

• Define and champion technical standards, architecture principles, and best practices to empower the team.

• Elevate engineering quality through thoughtful code reviews, technical guidance, and active mentoring.

• Translate complex business and operational needs into scalable, effective technical solutions alongside stakeholders.

Hands-on Engineering & Architecture

• Architect, build, and maintain frontend applications using Vue 3 and TypeScript.

• Develop robust backend services, REST APIs, and event-driven architectures using AWS Serverless technologies (Node.js).

• Modernize existing applications to optimize performance, enhance security, and ensure long-term reliability.

• Design and deploy scalable cloud infrastructure using AWS CDK.

• Design and manage highly efficient data models across both DynamoDB and SQL databases.

• Troubleshoot complex production issues, implementing sustainable, long-term fixes.

What You Bring (Must-Haves)

Experience & Leadership

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.

• Proven track record of technical leadership—leading projects, driving architectural decisions, or mentoring engineers.

• Strong ability to articulate technical trade-offs and make sound architectural choices.

Frontend & Backend Mastery

• Advanced proficiency in TypeScript and modern JavaScript.

• Deep expertise in full-stack development, specifically building backend services with Node.js.

• Strong experience with Vue 3 (or a willingness to ramp up quickly if your background is in React or Angular).

• Solid understanding of REST APIs, authentication, and authorization protocols.

Cloud, Data & DevOps

• Hands-on production experience with AWS CDK.

• Extensive experience with the AWS Serverless ecosystem: Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, SNS, EventBridge, Step Functions, IAM, and CloudWatch.

• Deep knowledge of database design, utilizing both DynamoDB and SQL databases (including relational modeling, joins, indexing, transactions, and query optimization).

• Strong grasp of serverless and event-driven architectures.

• Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and production deployments.

Bonus Points (Preferred Qualifications)

• Frontend: Hands-on experience specifically with Vue 3 and the Composition API.

• Database: Expertise in PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Amazon Aurora; experience handling database migrations/schema changes; deep knowledge of DynamoDB access patterns and secondary indexes.

• System Design: Experience implementing reliable asynchronous workflows, retries, and idempotency.

• Testing: Familiarity with end-to-end testing frameworks like Playwright.

• Integrations: Track record of integrating third-party or complex enterprise systems.

• Security: Experience configuring and working with AWS Cognito or Microsoft Entra ID.

• Tools: Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Codex, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate delivery.
