Job summary

The National University of Singapore's National Centre for Engineering Biology is seeking a diligent Laboratory Technologist to support day-to-day operations, maintain equipment, inventories, and instruments to high standards, and help manage lab safety and administration.

You will monitor analytical instruments (including mass spectrometry) performance, handle basic troubleshooting, assist with procurement, and coordinate orders while contributing to a multidisciplinary research team.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Biotechnology, Biomedical Science, or a related discipline required.
• Familiarity with analytical instruments and basic upkeep/maintenance (training provided).
• Strong organisational skills with inventory management and procurement support capability.
• Good attention to detail with ability to prioritise and handle multiple tasks.
• Self-motivated, responsible, and eager to learn new techniques and systems.
• Proficient in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Excel, Word).
• Team-oriented, able to work in a multidisciplinary environment.

Responsibilities

• Keep lab equipment running smoothly through routine checks and basic upkeep.
• Support analytical instruments (including mass spectrometry) operations: monitor performance, basic troubleshooting, and escalate complex issues.
• Manage chemicals, samples, and lab supplies: track inventory, replenish stocks and ensure proper labelling and storage.
• Manage lab procurement: get quotes, prepare orders, and track deliveries.
• Provide research administrative and lab safety support to keep daily operations organised.
• Perform other operational duties as required.

We are seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented Laboratory Technologist to join our team at the National Centre for Engineering Biology. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the research centre, ensuring equipment, instruments, and inventories are maintained to the highest standards. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with hands-on laboratory experience who seeks to further develop their management skills.
