Job summary

A*STAR Research in Singapore is seeking a Laboratory Officer (Lab Operations) to support an AAALAC International accredited laboratory animal facility. The role involves animal husbandry, daily health checks, census and logs, and ensuring strict safety and sanitation standards within Biopolis.

Training will be provided for candidates, with a preference for a Diploma in General Biology or Veterinary/Lab Animal Science and familiarity with NACLAR Guidelines.

Qualifications

• Diploma in scientific subjects such as General Biology, Veterinary or Laboratory Animal Science is preferred.
• AALAS certification and familiarity with NACLAR Guidelines would be considered an asset.
• Experience with laboratory animals is preferred but training is provided.

Responsibilities

• Provide husbandry and care for animals and their environment according to standards and workflows.
• Maintain cleaning and sanitization standards in the facility.
• Uphold safety practices and use PPE (scrubs, masks).
• Perform daily health checks and relay abnormal findings to veterinarians/facility managers/researchers.
• Work with veterinarians to monitor colony health.
• Perform administrative tasks including census, animal identification, and logs.
• Familiarity with regulatory compliance and animal care guidelines including NACLAR and AAALAC.
