Job summary

Initia Group in Singapore is seeking Commis / Kitchen Assistants to join our dynamic kitchen team. You will assist with daily food preparation, help cooks, and ensure strict hygiene and safety standards are maintained for smooth service delivery.

The role offers opportunities to learn under the Chef de Partie, handle various kitchen tasks, and contribute to high-quality presentation while working in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience in a kitchen or food-related role.
• Hygiene course certification or equivalent.
• Ability to work efficiently in a team-oriented and fast-paced environment.
• Versatile and adaptable to changing tasks.
• Experience with cold dish preparation or ingredient handling is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist kitchen staff with food preparation, including washing vegetables, chopping, and seasoning ingredients before service.
• Prepare and cook dishes under the guidance of the Chef de Partie and senior kitchen team.
• Ensure ingredients are properly stored, labelled, and rotated to maintain freshness and minimise wastage.
• Maintain consistency in food quality, portion sizes, and presentation according to established standards.
• Keep kitchen workstations, utensils, and equipment clean, organised, and ready for service.
• Follow food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures in accordance with Singapore regulations and company policies.
• Assist with receiving deliveries, checking ingredient quality, and replenishing kitchen supplies when required.
• Support smooth kitchen operations by coordinating with other kitchen sections and assisting during busy service periods.
• Handle kitchen equipment responsibly and report damaged equipment, shortages, or safety concerns to the supervisor.
• Perform other kitchen duties as assigned by the Chef de Partie or senior kitchen team
