Job summary

Recruit Express Pte Ltd in Singapore is seeking a Laboratory Services Associate to support patient services in a hospital laboratory. You will perform Lung Function Tests, Allergy Tests and Sleep Monitoring, and collaborate with clinicians to ensure safe, efficient service delivery.

The role requires a Diploma in Medical Science or related field, 2–3 years' clinical experience, strong organisational skills, and a patient-friendly approach to work with children.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Medical Science, Biomedical Science, Biotechnology or related Science discipline.
• 2–3 years of related clinical service experience will be advantageous
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Willing to learn, self-motivated and able to take initiative.
• Keen to work with children in a clinical environment.

Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of patient services in accordance with hospital policies and standards of practice.
• Provide laboratory support for Lung Function Tests, Allergy Tests and Sleep Monitoring Studies.
• Coordinate with doctors and other healthcare providers to ensure smooth delivery of services.
• Ensure scheduled procedures are performed appropriately and support daily laboratory operations.
• Perform pulmonary function tests (spirometry, NIOX-ENO, oscillometry, diffusion capacity, provocation tests, sweat testing).
• Perform allergy tests as requested by clinicians.
• Monitor and optimise utilisation of procedure rooms.
• Prepare preliminary test reports and record results in the system for vetting by the doctor-in-charge.
• Ensure accuracy and reproducibility of tests and proper documentation within timelines.
• Coordinate with departments for urgent Lung Function and Allergy test requests.
• Maintain equipment, instruments and fixed assets with proper documentation.
• Maintain stock inventory and ensure economical usage of consumables.
• Assist procurement of skin prick extracts, lancets and related equipment.
• Ensure equipment is checked, calibrated and maintained.
• Supervise, coach and guide staff in delivering patient care and clinical duties.
• Develop, implement and evaluate quality standards for clinical laboratory procedures.
• Manage patient feedback and inquiries, perform service recovery and provide information.
• Attend to telephone inquiries and trace results when requested.
• Assist with patient registration and appointment scheduling.
• Lead or participate in service quality activities and programmes.
• Attend in-service lectures and courses.
• Maintain statistical reports of laboratory output.
• Perform any additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

• Provide laboratory support for clinical cases requiring Lung Function Tests, Allergy Tests and Sleep Monitoring Studies.
• Work closely with doctors and other healthcare providers to ensure smooth delivery of services to patients.
• Ensure scheduled procedures are performed appropriately and support the smooth daily operations of the laboratory.
• Perform pulmonary function tests such as spirometry, NIOX-ENO, static lung volumes, Impulse Oscillometry, diffusion capacity, bronchial provocation tests and sweat testing as requested by clinicians.
• Perform allergy tests as requested by clinicians.
• Monitor and optimise utilisation of procedure rooms.
• Prepare preliminary test reports, record results in the computer system and ensure reports are submitted to the doctor-in-charge for vetting.
• Ensure accuracy and reproducibility of tests and proper documentation of results within stipulated timelines.
• Coordinate with departments, clinics and wards regarding urgent requests for Lung Function and Allergy Test procedures.
• Ensure proper maintenance, replacement and documentation of laboratory equipment, instruments and fixed assets.
• Maintain adequate stock inventory and consumables and ensure economical usage.
• Support procurement of skin prick extracts, lancets and other equipment to prevent stock shortages and ensure items remain within validity periods.
• Ensure equipment and instruments are checked, calibrated and maintained in good working condition, including emergency equipment.
• Supervise, coach and guide staff, including new staff, in delivering patient care and clinical duties.
• Develop, implement and evaluate quality standards for clinical laboratory procedures.
