Job summary

RECRUIT EXPRESS PTE LTD is seeking Medical Laboratory Scientists/Technologists to join a dynamic healthcare laboratory team serving Singapore’s western region. You will manage day-to-day operations, perform a range of tests and ensure accurate results across haematology, biochemistry, urinalysis and microscopy.

You'll conduct POCT, phlebotomy, ECG and spirometry, operate analyzers per SOPs, and maintain quality control while providing prompt results and good patient interaction.

Job description

Join a dynamic healthcare laboratory team supporting quality diagnostics and patient care across Singapore’s western region.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Manage day-to-day laboratory operations, including patient registration, specimen reception, preparation, processing and storage.

• Perform a range of clinical laboratory tests such as haematology, biochemistry, urinalysis and microscopy.

• Conduct Point-of-Care Testing (POCT), phlebotomy, ECG and spirometry procedures accurately and professionally.

• Operate, monitor and maintain laboratory analysers and equipment in accordance with established SOPs and work instructions.

• Perform daily quality control checks, calibrations and maintenance, with appropriate troubleshooting of irregular results or instrument issues.

• Verify and report accurate test results promptly, including timely escalation of critical values and workflow anomalies.

• Utilise the Laboratory Information System (LIS) for result entry, validation and tracking of outstanding tests.

• Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping to maintain laboratory traceability and compliance.

• Monitor laboratory reagents and supplies, and coordinate with the relevant personnel when replenishment is required.

• Maintain high standards of infection control, workplace safety, data protection and laboratory quality requirements.

• Provide prompt and courteous assistance to patients, clinicians, colleagues and other stakeholders, escalating complex queries when necessary.

• Work closely with the laboratory team to resolve operational issues and support smooth daily workflows.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the laboratory lead or supervisor.

What We’re Looking For

For Medical Laboratory Scientist / Technologist roles:

• Degree or Diploma in Biomedical Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science or a related discipline.

• Relevant experience in a clinical or healthcare laboratory environment will be advantageous.

• Experience in phlebotomy and specimen collection will be an advantage.

• Familiarity with laboratory procedures, quality control and laboratory equipment is beneficial.

• Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.

• Strong attention to detail with good analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Good interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative approach to teamwork.

• Comfortable interacting professionally with patients and healthcare stakeholders.

• Computer literate, with knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint being advantageous.

• Training will be provided where applicable.

Work Arrangement

• Full-time position

• 5.5-day work week, 42 hours per week

• Staggered start times between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM

• Primarily based at a National University Polyclinic in Singapore’s western region, with rotation to other polyclinics and the upcoming Yew Tee Polyclinic.
