Job summary

re-zoo-me is seeking a senior software engineer for a 1-year contract in Singapore to re-architect and rewrite existing Golang services into clean, idiomatic Java. You will collaborate with the engineering team to build reliable, maintainable distributed systems and backend services.

The ideal candidate has 5–8 years of experience in software development, strong Java and Golang skills, and a solid understanding of clean-code principles, concurrency, and backend engineering fundamentals.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java and Golang/Go.
• Strong understanding of idiomatic Java development and clean-code principles.
• Experience building and maintaining distributed systems, microservices or highly scalable backend services.
• Experience working on mission-critical systems where reliability, stability and performance are important.

About the Role

The successful candidate will play a key role in re-architecting and rewriting existing Golang services into clean, idiomatic and performant Java. You will work closely with the engineering team to build reliable, maintainable and scalable distributed systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain highly reliable distributed systems and backend services.
• Apply pragmatic problem-solving principles, focusing on effective and sustainable solutions rather than over-engineering.

• Document architectural decisions, technical rationale and complex business logic within the codebase.
• Identify technical gaps and proactively recommend improvements to system architecture, performance and reliability.

• Collaborate closely with engineers and other technical stakeholders on design and implementation decisions.
• Use AI-assisted development tools where appropriate for repetitive or boilerplate tasks while retaining ownership of core technical decisions, architecture and code quality.
