Job summary

re-zoo-me is seeking a senior software engineer for a 1-year contract in Singapore to re-architect and rewrite existing Golang services into clean, idiomatic Java. You will collaborate with the engineering team to build reliable, maintainable distributed systems and backend services.

The ideal candidate has 5–8 years of experience in software development, strong Java and Golang skills, and a solid understanding of clean-code principles, concurrency, and backend engineering fundamentals.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java and Golang/Go.
• Strong understanding of idiomatic Java development and clean-code principles.
• Experience building and maintaining distributed systems, microservices or highly scalable backend services.
• Experience working on mission-critical systems where reliability, stability and performance are important.
• Good working knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
• Experience with the Spring ecosystem, preferably Spring Boot.
• Strong understanding of concurrent programming and backend engineering fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Re-architect and rewrite existing Golang services in idiomatic, clean and performant Java.
• Design, develop and maintain highly reliable distributed systems and backend services.
• Apply pragmatic problem-solving principles to sustainable solutions.
• Write clean, readable, testable production-grade code.
• Document architectural decisions and complex business logic within the codebase.
• Identify technical gaps and propose improvements to system architecture and performance.
• Troubleshoot complex issues and contribute to long-term system stability.
• Collaborate with engineers on design and implementation decisions.
• Use AI-assisted tools where appropriate while owning core decisions and code quality.
• Contribute to engineering standards, testing and continuous improvement.
