Job summary

Design, build, and optimise RESTful APIs, modulith architectures, and MFE solutions while working with Kafka, IBM MQ, and relational databases.

Qualifications

• Strong Java 21 experience with Spring Boot and React frontend.
• Expertise in RESTful APIs, microservices and modulith patterns.
• Experience with Kafka and messaging systems; SQL optimisation.
• Proficient in unit and integration testing (JUnit, Mockito, Karate).

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Java Software Engineer with strong backend expertise in Java and Spring Boot to develop and enhance applications supporting Wealth Management. The role will work across backend and frontend technologies, with a strong focus on scalable APIs, microservices, modern architecture, and high-quality software delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain full-stack applications using Java, Spring Boot, and React.
• Build, enhance, and optimise RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Design and implement modulith/microservices architectures and Micro Frontend (MFE) solutions.
• Develop scalable and maintainable solutions using modern software engineering best practices.
• Work with relational databases and optimise SQL queries and database performance.
• Integrate applications with Kafka, IBM MQ, and other messaging platforms.
• Develop comprehensive unit and integration tests using JUnit, Mockito, and Karate.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues across frontend and backend systems.
• Collaborate with Business Analysts, Project Managers, business stakeholders, and technology teams to deliver quality solutions.
• Participate in system design, architecture discussions, technical roadmap planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Drive technical innovation and promote coding, design, testing, and engineering best practices.

Technical Requirements

• Strong proficiency in Java 21 and core Java concepts.
• Expert-level experience with Spring Boot, including MVC, Data, Security, and Cloud.
• Strong understanding of modulith and microservices design patterns.
• Hands-on experience with React and Micro Frontend (MFE) architecture.
• Strong knowledge of REST API design and development.
• Experience with MariaDB, PostgreSQL, or similar relational databases, including SQL optimisation.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka, IBM MQ, or other messaging technologies.
• Strong testing experience with JUnit, Mockito, and/or Karate.
• Good understanding of SOLID principles, design patterns, clean code, and software engineering best practices.
• Experience troubleshooting and supporting applications in production environments.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
