Job summary

PERSOL SINGAPORE PTE. LTD. is seeking a software engineer to design, develop and maintain backend services in Java/Spring Boot, and to build RESTful APIs and microservices for enterprise apps.

You will develop frontend components with React, ensure seamless integration with backend APIs, participate in Agile practices, contribute to CI/CD, and work across AWS/Azure environments with Docker/Kubernetes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT or related field.
• 3–7 years of professional software development experience in enterprise web applications.
• Strong hands-on Java, Spring Boot and React.
• Solid understanding of OOP, RESTful APIs, microservices and design patterns.
• Experience with OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, secure SDLC and OWASP.
• Experience with relational DBs and SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle).
• Docker experience and Kubernetes exposure (AKS/EKS/OpenShift).
• Experience in Agile/Scrum, cloud services (AWS/Azure), deployment and monitoring.
• Git, automated testing, CI/CD, code reviews; security-conscious coding.
• Good analytical, problem-solving, communication and teamwork skills.
• Knowledge of Kafka, RabbitMQ, Azure Service Bus or AWS SQS/SNS.
• Exposure to IaC tools (Terraform, ARM/Bicep, CloudFormation).
• Experience with API management, event-driven integration or distributed systems.
• Relevant cloud or software development certifications.

Working Hours: 8.30am - 6pm, Monday - Fridays. Standby and shift work may be required

Location: Central

Job Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
• Develop and integrate RESTful APIs and microservices to support enterprise applications.
• Implement business logic, data access components and integrations with internal and external systems.
• Develop responsive web applications and reusable UI components using React, JavaScript and/or TypeScript.
• Integrate frontend applications with backend APIs and ensure consistent, accessible and responsive user experiences.
• Troubleshoot application defects and resolve performance, reliability and compatibility issues.
• Support application deployment and operations across AWS and/or Microsoft Azure environments.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automated builds, testing and release processes.
• Use Git for source control and support containerised application deployments using Docker.
• Develop unit and integration tests, participate in code reviews and adhere to secure coding practices.
• Work closely with solution architects, business analysts and stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum activities including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, demonstrations and retrospectives.
• Prepare technical documentation and contribute to knowledge sharing within the development team.
• Take ownership of assigned deliverables and proactively identify and escalare technical or delivery risks.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline.
• 3–7 years of professional software development experience, preferably in enterprise web application development.
• Strong hands-on experience inJava, Spring Boot and React.
• Good understanding of object-oriented programming, RESTful APIs, microservices and common software design patterns.
• Hands on experience in application security concepts including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, secure SDLC and OWASP.
• Experience with relational databases and SQL, such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server or Oracle.
• Experience with Docker and exposure to Kubernetes, AKS, EKS or OpenShift.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
• Familiarity with AWS and/or Microsoft Azure cloud services, deployment and monitoring concepts.
• Experience with Git, automated testing, code reviews and CI/CD practices.
• Good analytical, problem-solving, communication and teamwork skills.
• Knowledge of messaging technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, Azure Service Bus or AWS SQS/SNS.
• Exposure to infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, ARM/Bicep or CloudFormation.

• Relevant cloud or software development certifications.
