Job Recruitment No : U5970
Role Overview
We are seeking an Investment Analyst to cover hedge fund manager research and due diligence within a multi-manager portfolio, while retaining direct public equity research capability.
This is not a pure allocator role. The ideal candidate can move comfortably between evaluating fund managers and conducting bottom-up single-stock research, and is expected to develop independent investment views rather than simply execute a due diligence process.
Responsibilities
- Source and evaluate new hedge fund managers across strategies,
- Conduct investment due diligence covering strategy, investment process, portfolio construction, risk management, organization and performance attribution
- Own ongoing monitoring of existing managers, including regular manager calls, performance reviews and thesis updates
- Prepare investment recommendations and materials for CIO / Investment Committee review
- Maintain an active network across the hedge fund ecosystem and proactively identify new opportunities
Public Equity Research
- Maintain independent coverage of multiple sectors, non-technology sector coverage background a plus
- Conduct bottom-up company research, financial modelling, valuation and industry analysis
- Produce actionable single-name investment ideas and contribute to internal portfolio discussions
- Analyze manager performance, exposures and portfolio-level risks
- Identify sector, factor, geographic and position overlap across underlying managers
- Support portfolio construction, liquidity management and rebalancing decisions
Requirements
- 6+ years of buy-side investment research experience
- Meaningful hands-on experience in both hedge fund / multi-manager due diligence and fundamental public equity research
- Candidates must be able to demonstrate actual investment work product and decision-making responsibility in both areas
- Strong financial modelling and analytical skills, including valuation and performance attribution
- Bilingual in English and Mandarin, with the ability to conduct due diligence on Chinese-speaking managers, particularly A-share and Hong Kong-related strategies
- Established hedge fund industry network, with direct manager relationships and the ability to source opportunities beyond databases and standard prime-broker introductions
- Strong ownership, intellectual curiosity and follow-through
- Comfortable switching between an allocator mindset — relative comparison, diversification and risk budgeting — and a stock-picker mindset — depth of research, conviction and concentration
We value candidates who are proactive investors rather than process-driven analysts: someone who can independently identify opportunities, form a view, challenge assumptions and take ownership from initial research through recommendation and ongoing monitoring.
