Job summary

Blueleaf Energy, a pan-Asian renewable energy platform backed by Macquarie Asset Management, seeks an Investment Analyst to join its HQ-based team. You will coordinate transactions, perform due diligence, model finances, and analyze markets across India, Southeast Asia and Japan to identify opportunities and support investment decisions.

You will collaborate with senior professionals on the deal lifecycle from screening to committee approval, preparing internal papers and investor materials

Qualifications

  • Degree in Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, Actuarial or similar; CA or BA-Finance preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years in Investment Banking, Private Equity or Infrastructure Funds Management.
  • Background in infrastructure, utilities or renewable energy sector.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills to conduct financial analysis.

  • Maintain understanding of markets in India, Southeast Asia and Japan.
  • Support review of strategy to fit evolving market conditions.

About this Role

As an Investment Analyst at Blueleaf Energy, you will be involved in transaction coordination, deal structuring, business and financial diligence, and market analysis. You will be expected to work as a member of a highly effective headquarter-based investment team that is responsible for building and growing the company’s investment portfolio both organically via developing greenfield projects as well as inorganically via acquisition opportunities. In this role, you will be at the forefront of identifying and evaluating renewable energy investment opportunities across key Asian markets. Your work will directly impact the company’s ability to execute on its mission of accelerating Asia’s clean energy transition. You will support senior investment professionals in all aspects of the deal lifecycle, from initial opportunity screening through to final investment committee approval and deal closure.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the origination of a pipeline of renewable energy projects and screen investment opportunities
  • Maintain up to date understanding of the company’s markets including India, Southeast Asia, and Japan onshore renewables markets, including trends, market participants, precedent transactions, and opportunities
  • Support review of strategy to fit the evolving market environment
  • Assist in analysis on opening up new markets for Blueleaf Energy in East Asia and Southeast Asia
  • Support necessary due diligence, financial modeling, and risk analysis
  • Participate in and/or support commercial, legal and financial aspects of deal structuring
  • Prepare internal approval papers including analysis and assessment of relevant opportunities to facilitate the Investment Director, Development Director and Blueleaf Energy leadership team to make investment decisions
  • Prepare project teaser or information memoranda for debt and equity investors, including responding to potential investor and financier’s commercial and technical due diligence
  • Support presentation of deal pipeline and transaction details to the Blueleaf Energy leadership team and Board for review and approval
  • Complete regular reporting activities for internal progress management purposes as well as updating Blueleaf Energy leadership on the ongoing deals pipeline and expected timeframes of reaching key milestones
Requirements
  • Degree in Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, Actuarial or similar level commercial or technical discipline, CA, or BA-Finance preferred
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working in Investment Banking, Private Equity or Infrastructure Funds Management
  • Background in the infrastructure, utilities or renewable energy sector
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills to conduct financial analysis, valuation and forecasting
  • Ability to create compelling written documents and presentations presenting and supporting financial analysis
  • Strong MS Office skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, and Teams
  • Proactive, detail-oriented and ambitious personality
  • Effective communicator with excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills
  • Excellent written and conversational English with ability to communicate with key internal and external stakeholders
