Injection Molding Process Engineer – Medical Devices

Job summary

BD is seeking a hands-on Process Engineer, Injection Molding to support and optimize manufacturing processes within a regulated medical device environment. You will develop, validate, troubleshoot, and continuously improve injection molding processes to meet SQDCP objectives.

The successful candidate will collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Tooling, Automation, and Engineering teams to drive process stability, improve OEE, and support new product introductions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Plastics, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• 3–5 years of hands-on injection molding process engineering in manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of injection molding principles and troubleshooting.
• Experience supporting production with focus on quality, productivity, and continuous improvement.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily injection molding operations to meet SQDCP targets.
• Develop and optimize molding processes using Scientific/Decoupled Molding, DOE, and statistics.
• Troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime and improve process capability.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives: yield, waste, cycle time, and OEE.
• Define process parameters, work instructions, and SOPs.
• Support new product introductions, transfers, qualification, and scale-up.
• Collaborate to investigate non-conformances and implement corrective actions.
• Program and support robotic systems and auxiliary equipment.
• Monitor tool performance and coordinate mold maintenance.
• Analyze data using Lean, Six Sigma, SPC to drive improvements.
• Work with suppliers to resolve issues and implement improvements.
• Ensure GMP, quality systems, environmental, safety, and regulatory compliance.
• Provide technical coaching to technicians and operators.
• Support engineering projects and other duties.
