Job description

Our client is an established early childhood centre in Ang Mo Kio.

They are looking for an Infant / Early Years Educator to support young children in a warm, respectful, and child-centred environment.

This role may be deployed to either the infant care class or the toddler / playgroup class, depending on your qualification, experience, and the centre’s manpower needs.

The centre believes that young children learn best when they feel safe, respected, and emotionally secure. The environment is calm, relationship‑based, and child‑centred, with a strong focus on patience, routine, care, and responsive interaction.

This is a hands‑on early childhood role. It involves both learning support and daily care routines such as feeding, hygiene, nap time, toileting, transitions, comforting children, and helping them settle throughout the day.

You should be steady, patient, observant, and comfortable working closely with infants and young children. You should also understand that early‑years work requires care, consistency, emotional steadiness, and attention to safety.

The successful candidate will work closely with other educators and centre staff to provide a safe, nurturing, and respectful environment for infants and young children.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide care and supervision for infants and/or toddlers in a childcare setting
  • Support children’s daily routines, including feeding, hygiene, diapering or toileting, nap time, transitions, and play
  • Help children feel safe, settled, and emotionally secure throughout the day
  • Comfort and support children who are crying, unsettled, or experiencing separation anxiety
  • Plan and support age‑appropriate learning experiences through play, stories, songs, movement, sensory exploration, and daily interactions
  • Observe children’s development, behaviour, safety, and well‑being during daily routines and activities
  • Build warm, respectful, and responsive relationships with infants, toddlers, and young children
  • Maintain a clean, safe, calm, and organised classroom environment
  • Work closely with teachers, educators, and centre staff to support each child’s care and development
  • Communicate professionally with colleagues and parents when required
  • Follow centre routines, safety practices, and child‑management guidelines
  • Support either infant care or toddler / playgroup class deployment based on centre needs
  • Assist during school events or open house activities when required
Requirements
  • Relevant infant / early‑years qualification or training is required
  • Advanced Certificate in Early Years (ACEY), Certificate in Infant/Toddler Care and Development (CIT), or equivalent ECDA‑recognised infant / early‑years qualification will be considered
  • Prior experience in infant care, toddler care, preschool, childcare, or early‑years settings is preferred
  • Comfortable caring for infants and/or toddlers in a full‑day childcare environment
  • Able to support routine care such as feeding, hygiene, diapering or toileting, nap time, transitions, and settling children
  • Patient, calm, reliable, hands‑on, and emotionally steady around young children
  • Comfortable handling crying, unsettled children, and daily care routines
  • Able to follow centre routines and work well as part of a team
  • Able to communicate clearly with children, colleagues, and parents when required
  • Comfortable working full‑time on‑site in Ang Mo Kio
  • Able to work rostered shifts within the centre’s operating hours
  • Successful candidate may be required to complete relevant declarations or checks in line with centre requirements
Working Arrangement
  • Full‑time on‑site role
  • Mainly Monday to Friday
  • Rostered shifts within the centre’s operating hours, generally between 7am and 7pm
  • May be required to support school events or open house activities when needed
  • Deployment may be in infant care or toddler / playgroup class, depending on centre needs and candidate fit
Who This Role Is For

This role is suitable for someone who genuinely enjoys working with infants and young children, and understands that early childhood work is both nurturing and practical.

It may be a good fit if you are calm, patient, observant, and comfortable with daily care routines.

It may also suit someone who values child‑centred care, emotional security, and respectful relationships with young children.

You do not need to have many years of experience to be considered, but you should have the relevant infant / early‑years qualification and be ready for the practical realities of working with infants or toddlers in a childcare environment.

Who This Role May Not Suit

This role may not suit someone who only wants to conduct classroom activities but is not comfortable with routine care.

It may also not suit someone who feels overwhelmed by crying children, feeding routines, hygiene duties, diapering or toileting support, nap time, or the physical and emotional demands of infant and toddler care.
