Job summary

The Singapore Red Cross Society seeks a dedicated Healthcare Aide to support Nursing Aides in delivering daily care to residents. You will assist with activities of daily living, including feeding, bathing, turning and mobility, as described in the resident care plan, while maintaining a clean and safe environment.

Responsibilities span operating duties, client reception, event support, and basic first aid.

Qualifications

• GCE ‘O’ or ‘N’ Levels or its equivalent.
• Healthcare Aide Certificate (from country of origin) or its equivalent.
• Basic Nursing skills, such as feeding, turning, changing, bathing, etc.
• Able to understand English.
• Compassionate.
• Able to follow orders.
• Physically fit and efficient.
• Independent as well as good team player.

Responsibilities

• Maintain general cleanliness of the Home and wards.
• Assist Nursing Aides to bathe, dress and groom residents/clients.
• Assist Nursing Aides to feed residents/clients.
• Assist with turning and repositioning bedridden residents/clients.
• Assist residents in activities and accompany on outside activities.
• Look after residents’ personal needs and assist with transfers.
• Accompany residents to clinics/hospitals when necessary.
• Assist in transporting clients to and from therapy sessions.
• Perform shift duties including night shift.
• Participate in staff development programmes.
• Assist in recreational and social programmes.
• Undertake other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Healthcare Aide assist the Nursing Aide in providing care services to residents/clients and assists them with the activities of daily living as described in the care plan. Duties may include skin care, hair care, mouth care, bathing, positioning and movement, exercise, feeding and diaper change. The Healthcare Aide is also required to maintain the general cleanliness of the Home.

Operation

1. Maintain the general cleanliness of the Red Cross Home for the Disabled such as the wards, toilets, offices, etc.
2. Assist the Nursing Aides to bathe, dressing and grooming the residents/clients
3. Assist the Nursing Aides to feed the residents/clients
4. Assist the Nursing Aides to turn and re-position bedridden residents/clients
5. Assist the residents/clients in activities such as wheeling them around the Home compound, supervise exercise routines and accompany resident/clients on outside recreational activities
6. Look after the residents’ personal needs, e.g. changing them whenever necessary
7. Accompany residents to clinics/ hospitals when necessary
8. Assist in transporting clients to and from therapy session
9. Perform shift duty which includes night shift
10. Participate in staff development programmes
11. Assist in recreational and social programmes for the residents
12. Undertake any other duties as assigned

Customer Management

1. Respond to queries on the telephone from volunteers and members of public on services provided by the division and redirect if necessary to relevant divisions.
2. Meet and greet clients and visitors.

Project/Programme Management

1. Support staff in assigned programme/event.
2. Assist in programme/event and operational duties

Any Other Duties

1. Assist to provide orientation for new foreign staff
2. Perform first aid duty in the event of an emergency or when required
