Job description

As the Head of Strategic Partnerships, you will be responsible for developing and executing Finmo’s global partnership strategy across treasury and open banking. This role owns the expansion, optimisation, and governance of Finmo’s partner ecosystem across treasury and open banking, acquiring and issuing, ensuring scalability, regulatory alignment, and strong unit economics in line with the company’s overall business objectives.

You will identify, evaluate, negotiate, and manage strategic partnerships with FIs including but not limited to: banks, open banking providers, payment processors, aggregators, and card schemes, while working cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Sales, Compliance, Operations, Support, and Finance to deliver high-quality, production-ready integrations.
Your core responsibilities will include but not limited to the following:

Network Strategy & Expansion
  • Develop and execute a strategic plan to expand Finmo’s treasury and open banking network globally.

  • Own partner strategy across:

  • Treasury and Open Banking (account data access, payments initiation, reconciliation)

  • Acquiring networks (card acquiring, local payment methods)

  • Issuing partners (future capability for cards and embedded finance)

  • Define connector prioritisation by geography based on customer demand, product roadmap, regulatory readiness, and commercial impact.

  • Shape the long-term network architecture to support scale, redundancy, and regional expansion.

Cross-Functional Execution
  • Work closely with Product, Technology & Engineering, Sales & Business Development, Compliance, Operations, Support, and Finance and any other business teams to ensure the network roadmap is executed on time and within budget.

  • Partner with Product to influence roadmap decisions for open banking, treasury, acquiring, and issuing capabilities based on partner capabilities and market gaps.

  • Lead cross-functional delivery from partner selection through integration, launch, and operational handover.

Partner Identification & Management
  • Identify and evaluate potential partners across open banking, treasury, acquiring, and issuing ecosystems.

  • Negotiate and manage partnership agreements, including pricing, SLAs, volume commitments, revenue share, and rebate structures.

  • Build and maintain strong senior-level relationships with key partners.

  • Oversee the day-to-day management and performance of existing partnerships.

Commercial & Financial Ownership
  • Own the commercial outcomes of network partnerships, including unit economics, revenue sharing, interchange (where applicable), and settlement efficiency.

  • Build business cases for new connectors and product expansions, including ROI, break-even, and scalability analysis.

  • Continuously optimise partner mix and commercial terms to improve margins and customer pricing.

  • Drive a culture of proactive, enterprise-wide risk and compliance excellence, embedding compliant-by-design principles into all network partnership initiatives. Collaborate closely with Product, Operations, and cross-functional leaders to enable innovation, protect customer interests, and ensure scalable, high-quality partnership outcomes that reflect Finmo’s values.

  • Own and lead strategic initiatives beyond core responsibilities, influencing business priorities, shaping partnership strategy, and ensuring execution excellence across the network to deliver customer-first, sustainable growth.

  • Any other ad hoc duties as assigned from time to time

Required Experience & Industry Knowledge
  • 8–12+ Years in Payments / FinTech: Extensive leadership experience within B2B payments, open banking, treasury management, card schemes (Visa, Mastercard, local clearing rails), acquiring, or issuing infrastructure.

  • Commercial Dealmaking & Financial Ownership: Proven track record of evaluating, structuring, and negotiating high-value commercial agreements (e.g., unit economics, pricing models, volume commitments, SLAs, revenue-share, and interchange optimization).

  • Technical & Product Acumen: Deep conceptual understanding of open banking APIs, account data access, payment initiation networks, settlement efficiency, and cross-border payment flows to effectively collaborate with Product and Engineering teams.

  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Demonstrated capability to lead cross-functional delivery cycles, aligning commercial growth targets with Product, Technology, Compliance, Operations, and Finance roadmaps.
