Job summary

Recruit Express Pte Ltd in Singapore is seeking an experienced Consultant Pathologist to lead the pathology department as Chief of Department. You will oversee diagnostic services, quality, accreditation, staff management and clinical governance while collaborating with clinicians, clients, and management.

Key responsibilities include reporting in histopathology/cytopathology, leading the team, ensuring timely diagnostics, developing SOPs and QA programmes, driving accreditation, managing budget

Qualifications

• MBBS/MD or equivalent medical degree required.
• Specialist qualification in Pathology (e.g., FRCPath, M Med Pathology or equivalent) required.
• Valid medical registration and specialist accreditation.

Responsibilities

• Provide diagnostic reporting in histopathology, cytopathology and/or clinical pathology.
• Lead and manage the pathology department, including pathologists and lab staff.
• Ensure high-quality, timely diagnostic services and governance.
• Develop and review SOPs, QC, and QA programmes.
• Drive accreditation and compliance (ISO 15189, CAP, or equivalent).
• Oversee clinical governance, audits, incident investigations and risk management.
• Manage department budget, resources, equipment and inventory.
• Liaise with clinicians, hospital partners and external clients.
• Support business development and new test offerings; participate in strategy planning.
• Provide teaching, training and mentorship to laboratory staff.
• Participate in research and continuous improvement initiatives.
