Selby Jennings is seeking a senior investment professional to lead equity manager sourcing and investment efforts across Asia-Pacific. You will identify, evaluate and underwrite equity investment talent across Asia, owning manager selection and capital allocation.

The role requires 10+ years in hedge fund manager selection, due diligence, and external research, with deep APAC equity knowledge and established relationships with PMs and funds.

We are currently representing a global alternative investment firm who are looking to hire a senior investment professional to lead their equity manager selection and investment efforts across Asia-Pacific.

The individual will be responsible for identifying, evaluating and underwriting equity investment talent across Asia, with significant ownership over manager selection and capital allocation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead APAC equity manager sourcing and selection, across fundamental long/short and adjacent equity strategies.
• Identify and evaluate both established and emerging portfolio managers across the region.
• Conduct detailed quantitative and qualitative investment due diligence, assessing track record, investment edge, portfolio construction, risk management, scalability and capacity.
• Develop investment recommendations around manager selection, sizing, capital allocation and overall portfolio fit.
• Monitor existing managers on performance, exposures, risk, style drift and changing market conditions.
• Build and maintain a deep network across the APAC hedge fund ecosystem, staying close to talent movements, new launches and emerging strategies.
• Partner with the global investment team on broader equity portfolio construction & allocation decisions.
• Act as a senior regional representative for the firm across the APAC investment community.

Candidate Profile

• Ideally 10+ years of relevant investment experience across hedge fund manager selection, investment due diligence, external manager research or capital allocation, ideally with strong equities focus.
• Deep understanding of APAC equity markets and the regional hedge fund landscape.
• Established relationships with equity PMs, hedge funds and investment platforms across Asia.
• Strong ability to assess alpha generation, investment process, portfolio construction, risk and scalability, beyond headline performance.
• Experience making or influencing real capital allocation decisions.
• Strong investment judgement and the ability to identify differentiated and repeatable investment edge.
• Comfortable operating autonomously as a senior APAC investment lead, while collaborating closely with a global team.
