Job summary

Airwallex (Singapore) is seeking an experienced backend engineer to design and build scalable microservices in Java/Kotlin, supporting high-traffic global platforms. You will collaborate with data scientists, product, and marketing teams to implement data pipelines, analytics and event-driven architectures that power growth initiatives.

You will drive architectural reviews, ensure security, and contribute to high availability through robust service-to-service communication and monitoring.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree or above in computer science or engineering related majors.
• 5+ years of experience in modern engineering practices focusing on CI and quality engineering.
• Strong fundamentals in OOP concepts.
• Experience with domain-driven design and event-driven architectures.
• Deep experience with high throughput/low latency distributed systems.
• Cloud experience with GCP (preferred) or AWS with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with observability tools such as Splunk, Grafana, and Prometheus.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable systems with microservices in Java/Kotlin or similar languages.
• Enable data-driven decisions by designing data pipelines and analytics platforms.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into backend solutions.
• Develop services to support rapid A/B testing and real-time monitoring.
• Promote security and compliance with robust authentication and authorization.
