Job summary

TikTok is seeking a seasoned Open Platform Architect to define end-to-end architecture for API platforms, partner integrations, and developer experience across regions. You will set technical strategy, standards for service design, data models, APIs, scalability, observability, reliability, security, and governance across multiple teams.

Qualifications

• Owns and evolves large-scale distributed system architectures.
• Designs and evolves service-oriented architectures with high availability.
• Deep understanding of API architecture, authentication, rate limiting, versioning, and governance.
• Knows distributed systems fundamentals: consistency, concurrency, caching, messaging, multi-region resilience.
• Able to produce high-quality technical designs and dive into code when needed.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive end-to-end architecture for API platforms and partner integration.
• Set technical strategy and architecture standards across teams and regions.
• Lead design reviews with product engineering, infrastructure, security and compliance groups.
• Identify bottlenecks and design long-term solutions for high-traffic, low-latency systems.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers; raise engineering quality and operations.
• Evaluate new technologies and guide pragmatic adoption of platform frameworks and patterns.
• Drive cross-team execution for large initiatives: roadmaps, risk management, governance.
