Qualifications

  • Diploma in shipping or logistics preferred with at least 3 years in transportation or logistics.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Macros) for data analysis.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate with multiple teams under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and control vessel load factors through booking trends and forecasts.
  • Optimize vessel space utilization while minimizing rollovers and overbookings.
  • Coordinate with Trade and Commercial teams to align allocations with demand.
  • Analyze port and vessel operations to improve efficiency.
  • Generate cargo flow reports to support daily decisions.
  • Implement medium-term space allocations and enforce guidelines.
  • Balance laden and empty movements per the Equipment Repositioning Plan.
  • Respond to disruptions such as port omissions and misconnected cargo.
  • Develop cargo recovery options and evaluate cost-benefit trade-offs.
  • Minimize costs from vessel changes, shutouts, and storage fees.

Job description

As a Cargo Flow Officer, you will be responsible for optimizing vessel capacity utilization by ensuring efficient cargo flow planning, space allocation, and equipment repositioning. Reporting to the Cargo Flow Manager, you will work closely with Trade, Operations, and Sales teams to balance cargo demand, maximize network yield, and minimize operational costs.

This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, the ability to work under pressure, and effective coordination with various stakeholders in the shipping and logistics industry.

Key Responsibilities
Cargo Flow Planning & Vessel Utilization
  • Monitor and control vessel load factors through analysis of booking trends and cargo forecasts.
  • Implement strategies to optimize vessel space utilization while minimizing rollovers and overbookings.
  • Coordinate with Trade and Commercial teams to ensure planned allocations align with market demand.
  • Evaluate and analyze port and vessel operations performance to improve efficiency.
  • Generate cargo flow reports to support decision-making and daily operations.
Space Allocation & Equipment Management
  • Implement medium-term space allocations (TEU, Deadweight, Equipment Size) and enforce adherence to allocation guidelines.
  • Balance laden and empty container movements according to the Equipment Repositioning Plan.
  • Work with the Transshipment and Vessel Planning teams to ensure cargo is properly connected to final destinations.
  • Respond proactively to network disruptions such as port omissions, void sailings, and misconnected cargo.
  • Develop alternative cargo recovery solutions and evaluate cost-benefit trade-offs.
  • Minimize operational costs related to vessel changes, shutouts, and storage fees through effective planning.
  • Minimum a Diploma Holder from recognized institutions, preferably in shipping or logistics and/or with at least 3 year of working experience in transportation or logistics industry would be preferred
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Macros) for data analysis.
  • Soft Skills: Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks under pressure.
