Job summary

SJ Group in Singapore is seeking a geotechnical engineer to plan and supervise ground investigations, analyze designs for geotechnical structures, and contribute to infrastructure and building projects. The candidate should hold a Bachelor's degree in civil and structural engineering and have 3–5 years of geotechnical experience, with familiarity with local codes, Eurocodes, and PLAXIS or similar tools.

You will work with multidisciplinary teams and mentor junior engineers to ensure quality

Qualifications

• Knowledge of authority submission processes for civil works is preferred.

Job description

• Plan and supervise ground investigations, including performing ground characterizations.
• Conduct analyses and detailed designs for geotechnical structures and solutions.
• Perform structural-related designs as required.
• Coordinate and liaise with developers, contractors, authorities, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Manage and oversee geotechnical design projects, ensuring timely and quality deliverables.
• Work on geotechnical challenges associated with infrastructure works (e.g., underground stations, tunnels, basements, slope stabilizations) and building works (e.g., basements, foundations, ground settlements).
• Be involved in the design aspects of these geotechnical works.
• Share technical knowledge, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the team.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil and Structural Engineering.
• 3–5 years of relevant working experience in geotechnical engineering projects.
• Proficiency in geotechnical design software (e.g., PLAXIS) is advantageous.
• Familiarity with local codes, regulations, requirements, and Eurocodes.
• Knowledge of authority submission processes for civil and geotechnical works.
• Conversant with statutory codes, site supervision practices, quality control procedures, and construction administration.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
