Job summary

SAN YU ADVENTIST SCHOOL LIMITED is seeking an English teacher to plan and deliver engaging lessons, establish clear objectives, and prepare diverse instructional materials for a Singapore classroom.

The role requires a basic English degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience, TEFL/TESOL/CELTA credentials preferred, and the ability to adapt to student needs. Strong communication and PC skills are expected to support teaching and pastoral duties.

Qualifications

• Basic degree holder (English major) or above with at least 3 years of relevant working experience.
• Qualifications in TEFL/TESOL/CELTA highly preferred

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and carry out instructional activities that promote active learning experiences
• Establish and convey clear objectives for all learning activities
• Prepare classroom for class activities
• Prepare variety of learning materials for use in educational activities
• Identify and select a variety of instructional resources and methods to cater to students’ varying needs
• Use relevant technology to support instruction
• Observe and evaluate students’ performance and development
• Set different forms of assessments such as quizzes, tests and examinations
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of students’ progress and development
• Prepare reports on students and activities
• Manage student behavior in the classroom appropriately
• Maintain discipline in accordance with the disciplinary system of the school
• Apply appropriate disciplinary measures where necessary
• Perform certain pastoral duties such as student support and counseling
• Communicate necessary information frequently to students, colleagues and parents pertaining to student progress and student needs
• Keep updated with subject area, teaching resources and methodologies and make pertinent changes to instructional plans and activities
• Conduct remedial lessons to help underachievers reach expected competencies in core academic skills
• Work closely with form teacher to maintain discipline of subject class and to care for the well-being of students
• Any other duties as assigned by the Principal, Vice-Principal or Head of Department
