Assistant Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis

We are partnering with an established insurer to hire an Assistant Manager into its Planning & Analysis team.
This is a broad FP&A opportunity within a lean finance team, providing direct exposure to senior stakeholders and a combination of financial analysis, IFRS 17 performance monitoring, management reporting and project cost management.
Key Responsibilities
- Support KPI monitoring and analysis of business and financial performance, including IFRS 17-related results and key performance drivers.
- Analyse financial results and investigate underlying movements, trends and variances to provide meaningful insights to management.
- Support budgeting, forecasting and planning activities across the business.
- Monitor project expenditure, budgets and financial performance across ongoing business and transformation initiatives.
- Support the development and enhancement of project cost and cost-benefit monitoring frameworks.
- Prepare management reporting and group/regional reporting, including analysis and commentary for senior stakeholders.
- Partner with stakeholders across Finance, Actuarial, IT and other business functions to gather information, challenge assumptions and support decision-making.
- Support the development of dashboards and reporting tools to improve visibility of KPIs, project costs and business performance.
- Identify opportunities to improve existing reporting, analysis and finance processes.
Requirements
- Approximately 4 to 7 years of relevant experience within insurance finance, FP&A, financial reporting or Big 4 insurance audit.
- Strong knowledge of the insurance industry, with life insurance experience advantageous.
- Exposure to IFRS 17 / FRS 117 and an understanding of insurance financial results and performance drivers.
- Experience in financial analysis, KPI monitoring, management reporting, budgeting, forecasting or variance analysis.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand and explain the drivers behind financial performance.
- Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to work across multiple functions.
- Experience with Power BI, dashboarding, reporting automation or other data analytics tools would be advantageous.
- Big 4 insurance auditors at Senior Associate / Assistant Manager level who are looking to transition into an in-house FP&A role are encouraged to apply.

Desired Skills and Experience
- 4-7 years of relevant experience within insurance finance, FP&A, financial reporting or Big 4 insurance audit. Strong preference for candidates at Assistant Manager level or experienced Senior Associate level with the maturity to manage senior stakeholders.
- Strong insurance knowledge, ideally within life insurance, with exposure to IFRS 17 / FRS 117 and an understanding of insurance financial performance and key business drivers.
- Experience in KPI monitoring, business performance analysis, management reporting, budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis. Exposure to project cost monitoring, project budgeting or cost-benefit analysis would be advantageous.
- Strong analytical capability with the ability to interpret financial results, investigate movements and identify the underlying drivers behind performance, rather than purely preparing or extracting data.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the confidence to work across Finance, Actuarial, IT, business functions and senior management.
- Big 4 insurance auditors with strong IFRS 17 exposure and demonstrated analytical capability are welcome to apply.
- Experience with Power BI, dashboarding, data analytics or reporting automation would be advantageous.
