Job summary

Squirro is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to work with enterprise customers across Singapore and the APAC region. You will translate business and data needs into scalable AI-powered search, RAG, and knowledge-driven solutions.

You will collaborate with Product, Engineering, Sales, and Delivery teams to deliver impactful deployments, guide customers through discovery to production, and continuously optimize integration and customization across environments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in a customer-facing technical role such as Solutions Engineer, Forward Deployed Engineer, Technical Consultant, or similar.
• Strong hands-on experience with Python and/or JavaScript and software development best practices.
• Experience working with structured and unstructured data, including data ingestion, transformation, and integration.
• Experience with enterprise search technologies such as Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, or similar platforms.
• Practical understanding of Generative AI, LLMs, RAG, and AI integration patterns.

Job description

As a Forward Deployed Engineer at Squirro, you’ll work directly with enterprise customers across Singapore and the wider APAC region to implement, customize, and scale AI-powered search, RAG, and insights solutions.

You’ll sit at the intersection of engineering, consulting, and customer delivery, translating complex business and data requirements into production-ready solutions. Working closely with customers, Product, Engineering, Sales, and Delivery teams, you’ll help organizations unlock value from structured and unstructured data through enterprise search, Generative AI, and knowledge-driven applications.

This is a highly hands-on role for someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems while working closely with customers.

What You’ll Do

• Client Engagement & Solution Delivery: Work directly with enterprise customers throughout discovery, implementation, deployment, and ongoing support. Understand business challenges, data landscapes, and technical requirements, and translate them into scalable solutions.
• RAG & Enterprise Search Implementation: Configure and optimize Squirro’s AI-powered search and RAG platform, improving retrieval quality, relevance, grounding, and overall user experience.
• Data Integration: Design and implement ingestion and integration pipelines for structured and unstructured enterprise data across APIs, databases, file systems, and other data sources.
• Platform Customization & Development: Build custom components, integrations, and extensions using technologies such as Python and JavaScript to meet customer-specific requirements.
• GenAI & Chat Applications: Develop and customize LLM-powered applications and chat experiences, including retrieval workflows, prompt logic, and enterprise AI integrations.
• Search Optimization: Configure and customize enterprise search capabilities, including technologies such as Elasticsearch or OpenSearch, to improve search relevance and information discovery.
• Knowledge & AI Solutions: Apply technologies such as Knowledge Graphs, LLMs, NLP, and machine learning to improve search, retrieval, automation, and insight generation.
• Infrastructure & Deployment: Support deployments across Linux, cloud, hybrid, and on-premise environments, working with platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Technical Support & Enablement: Troubleshoot customer environments, support production deployments, and provide technical guidance and training to help customers successfully adopt Squirro.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with Product and Engineering teams to communicate customer feedback, identify product improvements, and contribute to reusable solution patterns and best practices.

What You Bring

• 5+ years of experience in a customer-facing technical role such as Solutions Engineer, Forward Deployed Engineer, Technical Consultant, or similar.
• Strong hands-on experience with Python and/or JavaScript and software development best practices.
• Experience working with structured and unstructured data, including data ingestion, transformation, and integration.
• Experience with enterprise search technologies such as Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, or similar platforms.
• Practical understanding of Generative AI, LLMs, RAG, and AI integration patterns.
• Experience designing, building, or deploying LLM-powered chat or search applications.
• Experience working with REST APIs, backend integrations, and third-party systems.
• Familiarity with Linux environments and production troubleshooting.
• Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, as well as hybrid or on-premise environments.
• Strong communication and consulting skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to independently manage multiple customer engagements and technical workstreams.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Knowledge Graph technologies, particularly RDF or SKOS.
• Experience with NLP, text analytics, semantic search, embeddings, or machine learning.
• Experience customizing search relevance and retrieval for enterprise use cases.
• Familiarity with vector search, hybrid search, reranking, or modern retrieval architectures.
• Experience working with highly regulated enterprise environments such as banking, financial services, insurance, or government.
• Experience supporting customers across Singapore and the broader APAC region.
• Experience with the Squirro platform or other cognitive search / enterprise AI platforms.
