Job summary

uParcel is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer who embeds with merchants and enterprise partners to design integrations against our APIs, build custom connectors, and automate fulfillment workflows. You’ll prototype on-site with customers and then scale solutions with the core product team.

You will work directly with customers, translating pain points into shipped solutions, often within days, not quarters, using REST APIs, Node.js, Python, and LLM-powered workflows.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of software engineering experience with APIs and integrations.
• Comfortable working directly with customers and explaining trade-offs to non-engineers.
• Strong full-stack fundamentals: REST/webhook APIs, backend language (Node.js/Python) and frontend/scripting ability.

Responsibilities

• Partner with merchants, marketplace sellers, and enterprise clients to design integrations against uParcel’s APIs.
• Build and ship custom connectors, scripts, dashboards, and automations for specific customer problems.
• Prototype solutions on-site or with customers, then harden into reusable features with the product team.
• Debug issues across the full stack in live customer environments (APIs, data pipelines, webhooks).
• Advise on real-world integration patterns and feed gaps back into the product roadmap.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer to sit at the intersection of engineering and customer success. You’ll embed directly with uParcel’s merchant and enterprise partners, understand their fulfilment workflows, and build the integrations, automations, and custom tooling that make uParcel indispensable to their operations. This isn’t a back‑office engineering role – you’ll be in front of customers and internal teams, translating their pain points into shipped solutions, often within days rather than quarters.

What You’ll Do

• Partner directly with merchants, marketplace sellers, and enterprise clients to understand their order, inventory, and fulfilment workflows, then design integrations against uParcel’s APIs and platform.
• Build and ship custom connectors, scripts, dashboards, and automations that solve specific customer problems – from Shopify, Lazada, and Shopee order sync to warehouse and courier handoff logic.
• Rapidly prototype solutions on‑site or in working sessions with customers, then harden the best ones into reusable, production‑grade features with the core product team.
• Debug issues across the full stack in live customer environments – API integrations, data pipelines, webhook flows, and third‑party ecommerce platforms.
• Act as the technical voice of the customer internally, feeding real‑world integration patterns and gaps back into uParcel’s product roadmap.
• Own the technical relationship for key accounts: onboarding, troubleshooting, and proactive optimization of their fulfilment setup.
• Document integration patterns and playbooks so solutions built for one customer can be reused for the next.
• Design and build internal AI agentic workflows (e.g. LLM‑powered automations for ops, support, and customer‑facing tooling) that reduce manual work across the business.

What We’re Looking For

• 2‑5 years of software engineering experience, ideally with exposure to APIs, systems integration, or ecommerce/logistics platforms.
• Comfortable working directly with customers – you can run a technical discovery call, whiteboard a solution, and explain trade‑offs to non‑engineers.
• Strong full‑stack fundamentals: REST/webhook APIs, a modern backend language (Node.js, Python, or similar), and enough frontend/scripting ability to build quick internal tools.
• Bias toward shipping – you’d rather deliver a working solution this week and iterate than wait for the “perfect” architecture.
• Experience with ecommerce platforms (Shopify, Lazada, Shopee, WooCommerce) or logistics/WMS systems is a strong plus.
• Comfortable with ambiguity: forward deployed work means requirements shift as you learn the customer’s real workflow.
• Hands‑on experience building with LLMs/AI agents – you’ve shipped an agentic workflow, not just experimented with prompts.
• Willingness to travel locally for on‑site customer sessions as needed.
