Job summary

Arta is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to design and build backend systems powering its B2B wealth platform. You will own services end-to-end, from API design to data models, working with AI coding agents to ship faster and operate at higher leverage.

You will partner with a client team, own integration from design to production, and serve as the technical contact for their engineering and product teams. This role emphasizes reliability, security, and thoughtful data engineering.

Qualifications

• 5+ years backend software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python (or similar).
• Deep understanding of distributed systems and APIs (REST/gRPC).

The Role

In this role, you will design and build the backend systems that power Arta's B2B wealth platform — the infrastructure banks and financial platforms use to deliver institutional-grade investment products to their clients. You'll own services end-to-end, from API design to data models to production reliability, working extensively with AI coding agents and LLM-based tooling to ship faster and operate at higher leverage than a traditional backend team.

You’ll be embedded with a partner, working alongside their engineers and inside the systems and constraints they already run, and you’ll own a partner integration from early design through to production. You will be a technical contact for the partner's engineering and product teams — the person they work with day to day on design questions, debugging across the system boundary, and getting the integration to production.

What You Will Do

Partner engagement

• Be the technical point of contact for a partner's engineering and product teams — the person they work with day to day on design questions and debugging across the system boundary
• Understand how the partner operates and what systems they run on, well enough to design against constraints they haven't articulated
• Advise partners on integration and implementation approaches, drawing on your technical expertise and knowledge of the wealth management industry
• Document integration decisions and learnings for future engagements
• Bring partner signal back to Platform and Product, distinguishing one partner's preference from a pattern worth building for

Engineering

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services, APIs, and data pipelines for partner use cases on Arta's wealth management platform
• Make architectural decisions on system design, data modeling, service boundaries, and infrastructure
• Write clean, well-tested, observable code, and use AI coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor, etc.) as a core part of your daily workflow to accelerate delivery without sacrificing quality
• Build and integrate LLM and agent-powered backend capabilities where they unlock product value (e.g., automated workflows, intelligent data processing, agent-driven user experiences)
• Build reliable, scalable services that integrate with third-party financial systems, including workflow orchestration (Temporal), monitoring and evals, and participation in on-call and incident response

Who You Are

Preferred: partner-facing experience

• You've been the technical person in front of a customer or partner — not supporting someone else's meeting, but the one they direct questions at
• Able to explain a technical trade-off to a business stakeholder and a technical one in the same meeting
• Sound judgment about what to commit to under pressure, and comfortable saying no to a partner without damaging the relationship
• Comfortable with ambiguity, incomplete specs, and systems you can't see all of
• Comfortable being based at a partner site, and open to occasional travel

And you can build

• At least 5 years of backend software development experience, with strong proficiency in Python (or similar)
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, RESTful and/or gRPC APIs, microservices, and database systems (SQL and NoSQL)
• Strong on integration work: APIs, data modeling, authentication, moving data between systems and organisations
• Experience designing for reliability, performance, and security in production environments
• Fluency with AI coding tools and a track record of using them to materially raise your output and code quality
• Experience building with LLMs and/or agent frameworks (tool use, function calling, MCP, evals) or strong interest and aptitude to ramp up quickly
• Prior experience in trading platforms, brokerage systems, or financial infrastructure is a big plus, but not a must
