Job description

A leading Real Estate Investment and Development Group in Singapore, with a diversified portfolio of landmark hospitality, commercial and mixed‑use properties in prime locations, is seeking an experienced Financial Controller, a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing robust financial governance, project cost control, and accurate reporting across multiple entities and projects. This leadership role is ideal for a results‑driven professional with a strong background in finance, tax and structuring, due diligence, internal controls, and compliance. Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare accurate and timely monthly and quarterly management reports, as well as statutory financial statements. Conduct thorough analysis of project costs, budgets, variances, and profitability, providing insights to senior management.
  • Project Finance Management: Take ownership of financial management for development projects, ensuring effective cost control and adherence to budgetary guidelines. This includes forecasting costs, identifying potential risks, and working closely with project managers and contractors to optimize profitability.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process, including operational, CAPEX, and cash flow planning for all entities by partnering with relevant departments to align financial plans with strategic goals. Advise top management on capital allocation and strategic direction.
  • Audit: Coordinate and lead annual audits with external auditors. Ensure compliance with the relevant Financial Reporting Standards, corporate policies, ensure compliance with IFRS, and all relevant statutory and tax regulations. Also design, implement, and monitor effective internal control systems, SOPs, and financial procedures in line with best practices.
  • Cash Flow & Treasury Management: Oversee cash flow management, including forecasting, reporting, and optimization across various entities or projects.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with cross‑functional teams, including project managers, engineers, and legal teams, to resolve financial issues and ensure contractual compliance. Support business development activities including financial due diligence for acquisitions or new developments.
  • Compliance & Co‑ordination: Liaise with tax consultants, legal counsel, bankers, and local authorities on compliance matters. Manage lease, franchise, and contract agreements, as well as review related legal and financial documentation.
Requirements:
  • Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant financial management and accounting experience with a proven track record, with at least 10 years with a reputed Real Estate developer.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to influence operational decisions through financial insights.
  • Hands‑on, detail‑oriented, and able to work in a fast‑paced, multi‑property environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and people management abilities.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Tally, Xero) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and abstract reasoning skills.

This position is based in Singapore/Malaysia and should be willing to travel.
