Job summary

GlaxoSmithKline is seeking a Finance Partner for Asia R&D to shape strategic and financial decisions across the organisation. You will work with senior R&D and Finance leaders, delivering forward-looking insights and high-quality analysis to support investment, resource allocation and performance decisions.

You will partner with Finance, R&D and other functions to drive budgeting, forecasting and performance management, while ensuring accuracy, governance and continuous improvement across

Qualifications

• Basic qualifications Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
• Experience in finance business partnering, financial planning and analysis, or related finance roles.
• Experience supporting business decisions through financial analysis, scenario modelling and insight generation.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Understanding of financial systems and planning tools including SAP, CERPS, SAC or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Finance Partnering with Asia R&D leaders to provide financial insight and support on priorities and resource allocation.
• Build partnerships across Finance, R&D, Portfolio Management and other functions to align decision-making.
• Support the financial evaluation of investment proposals and business cases with clear risks and trade-offs.

Job Purpose

As Finance Partner for Asia R&D, you will play a key role in shaping strategic and financial decision-making across the organisation. Working closely with senior R&D and Finance leaders, you will provide forward-looking insight, constructive challenge and high-quality analysis to support investment, resource allocation and performance decisions. Why this role? This role offers broad exposure across Asia R&D and the wider Translational & Development Sciences (TDS) Finance organisation. You will work with senior stakeholders, influence important investment and resourcing decisions, and develop a strong understanding of how financial insight supports scientific progress and operational delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Finance Partnering Partner with Asia R&D leaders to provide financial insight, challenge and support on strategic priorities, operating plans and resource allocation decisions.
• Build strong partnerships across Finance, R&D, Portfolio Management and other key functions to support aligned decision-making and enterprise objectives.
• Support the financial evaluation of investment proposals, business cases and strategic initiatives, ensuring assumptions, risks and trade-offs are clearly understood.
• Planning, Forecasting & Performance Management Lead budgeting and forecasting, ensuring plans accurately reflect business strategies, risks and opportunities.
• Monitor performance against plans and forecasts, identifying variances, trends and drivers to support proactive decision-making.
• Provide stakeholders with forward-looking insights on financial performance, resource utilisation and future outlooks.
• Collaborate with the broader TDS Finance team to support consolidated financial reviews, analysis and insights.
• Financial Stewardship & Reporting Ensure the integrity, accuracy and transparency of forecasts, reporting and financial analysis.
• Maintain compliance with GSK financial controls, governance requirements and Finance Ways of Working.
• Continuous Improvement Support continuous improvement initiatives across planning, forecasting, reporting and analytical processes.
• Leverage digital, analytical and automation tools to improve insight generation and decision support.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

• Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
• Experience in finance business partnering, financial planning and analysis, or related finance roles.
• Experience supporting business decisions through financial analysis, scenario modelling and insight generation.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Understanding of financial systems, reporting processes and planning tools, including SAP, CERPS, SAC or equivalent systems.
• Preferred Qualifications Finance Partnering experience in R&D.
• Proficiency in using data visualisation, analytics, automation or generative AI tools, such as Power BI and Claude.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex and fast-moving environment.
• Ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders across technical and non-finance functions.
• Skills Business Case Development, Business Forecasting, Data Storytelling, Digital Fluency, Enterprise Thinking, Financial Modeling, Financial Performance Improvement, Influencing Without Authority, Insight Generation, Intrapreneurship.
