Job summary

Canon Singapore is seeking a proactive Field Service Engineer to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair a range of printing equipment at customer sites across Singapore. The role focuses on maximizing uptime, system reliability, and customer satisfaction, with duties spanning software support and workflow applications.

The ideal candidate has 1–5 years of relevant experience in electrical/electronic/mechatronics engineering and hands-on service skills for printing systems.

Qualifications

  • NITEC / Higher NITEC in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, or Mechatronics with 3–5 years of relevant experience; or Diploma with 1–2 years of relevant experience.
  • Hands-on experience servicing digital, production, office, or wide-format printing equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Install, commission, configure, and provide technical support for printing equipment at customer sites.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to maximize uptime and performance.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, electronic, software, and print quality issues.
  • Update field-installed equipment with firmware and modifications as directed.
  • Build relationships with customers and provide training on basic operation.

Job description

We are seeking a proactive and customer-focused Field Service Engineer to provide installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair support for a range of low, mid, and high-volume printing equipment. The successful candidate will work closely with customers to ensure optimal machine performance, system reliability, and customer satisfaction while supporting software and printing system applications.

Key Responsibilities

Installation, Maintenance & Repair

  • Install, commission, configure, and provide technical support for low, mid, and high-volume printing equipment at customer sites.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities to ensure maximum equipment uptime and performance.
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, electronic, software, and print quality issues efficiently.
  • Ensure all field-installed equipment is updated with the latest modifications, firmware, and technical upgrades as directed by the manufacturer.
  • Support and troubleshoot printing software solutions, workflow applications, and printing system-related applications.
  • Conduct machine performance checks and verify equipment meets operational specifications after installation or repair.

Technical Service Support

  • Maintain service tools, test equipment, spare parts inventory, and technical documentation required to perform field service activities.
  • Keep technical service manuals and service-related documentation updated and readily available for daily operations.
  • Prepare and submit accurate service reports, maintenance records, and customer visit documentation in accordance with company requirements.
  • Escalate unresolved technical issues to senior engineers or technical support teams within established timelines.
  • Participate in technical training programs and continuously upgrade product and application knowledge.

Customer Service

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers through professional and timely service delivery.
  • Provide technical guidance and basic operator training to customers where required.
  • Respond promptly to customer service requests and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including technical support, sales, and logistics, to ensure effective service delivery.

Qualifications & Experience

Educational Requirements

  • NITEC / Higher NITEC in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering with 3-5 years of relevant experience; or
  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related discipline with 1-2 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience servicing digital printing, production printing, office printing, or wide-format printing equipment.
  • Hands-on experience in equipment installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair.
  • Familiarity with software applications, print workflow solutions, and network-connected printing devices.

Technical Skills

  • Good knowledge of basic xerographic principles and printing equipment.
  • Understanding of process color management and print quality control.
  • Basic IT networking knowledge, including IP configuration and network connectivity troubleshooting.
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service documentation.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting capabilities.
