Job summary

Vanguard Healthcare Pte Ltd is seeking a capable Handyman to perform maintenance and kitchen support at the Bukit Batok Care Home. You will handle basic repairs, preventive maintenance, and upkeep of both indoor and outdoor areas to ensure a safe living environment for residents.

The role requires at least 2 years of related experience, ability to work with plumbing/electrical systems, and strong organizational and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years’ working experience in a similar role.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic maintenance tasks including painting and filling crevices; clean facilities and manage maintenance repairs.
• Perform repair works on appliances under preventive maintenance (excluding medical equipment).
• Detect, report and monitor needs for major maintenance work.
• Regularly check the care home to identify issues with litter, mechanical failure or breakdowns.
• Respond to the clinical team requests for repair and maintenance in a timely and professional manner.
• Repair plumbing, electrical and safety systems in alignment with requirements in consultation with appointed Hard FM vendor.
• Maintain the cleanliness of outdoor spaces such as parking lots and sidewalks with appointed Soft FM vendor.
• Oversee the sprinkler system and trash containers in company premises in consultation with Hard FM vendor.
• Conduct routine performance checks on company assets (refrigerators, microwaves, ovens, wheelchairs, etc.).
• Provide support and guidance to the clinical team on maintaining their equipment in consultation with relevant equipment suppliers/manufacturers.
• The role will be responsible for daily housekeeping functions and maintaining high hygiene standards within the kitchen of the Nursing Home.
• Support the Operations team to work with outsourced vendors to manage kitchen cleanliness, handling, plating and delivery of food to residents.
• Assist in maintenance of food hygiene, storage and temperature control; upkeep environmental cleanliness; handle chemicals safely.
• Report maintenance deficiencies detected within the kitchen to the appropriate supervisor.
• Ensure kitchen supplies are adequate to meet daily needs; keep work areas free of hazards.
• Ensure kitchen tools/equipment are cleansed and properly stored after usage.
• Work with vendors to receive food and audit kitchen facilities with the Centre Manager.

Kitchen Functions:

• The role will be responsible to perform daily housekeeping functions and maintain high standard of hygiene and cleanliness within the kitchen of the Nursing Home.

• You will support the Operations Support Assistant and Operations Support Executive (OSE) to work with outsourced vendors to ensure the safe and proper management, kitchen cleanliness, handling, plating and delivery of food to residents.

• The detailed duties are as follows:

  • Assist in the maintenance of food hygiene (taking delivery of food, storage of food, food temperature maintenance, food preparation).

  • Upkeep environmental cleanliness (washing of dishes and cutlery), includes daily cleaning and weekly deep cleaning.

  • Ensure proper handling of chemicals.

  • Report any maintenance deficiencies detected within the kitchen to the Operations Support Assistant and/or Operations Support Executive.

  • Ensure kitchen supplies are adequate to meet the daily needs of the nursing home.

  • Keep work areas free of hazardous conditions.

  • Ensure that kitchen tools / equipment is cleansed and properly stored after usage.

  • Work with vendors to receive food.

  • Work with the Centre Manager to audit the kitchen facilities.

  • Conduct plating activities if required.

Educational Requirements:
