Job summary

Kingsforce Management Services Pte Ltd is recruiting for a hands-on Welding Supervisor in Singapore's oil and gas sector. You will oversee the Fabrication team, ensure compliance with HS&E policies, and drive efficiency through LEAN initiatives.

You will review welding procedures, coordinate with relevant departments, and monitor production against schedules while maintaining quality standards and disciplined 6S practices in workshop and storage areas.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in metalworking and fabrication.
• Experience with FCAW, GMAW, GTAW, SAW and SMAW.
• Knowledge of ASME, AWS, DNV, API standards.
• Upstream oil and gas experience is a plus.
• Welding or metallurgical inspection certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure HS&E policies and procedures are followed.

About our client

Our client is an established company in the oil and gas industry, specialising in the manufacturing of equipment and solutions for the energy sector.

About the role

• Ensure compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental (HS&E) policies and procedures.


• Maintain the 6S programme across all workshop and storage areas.


• Provide day-to-day leadership and supervision of the Fabrication team.


• Participate in and lead LEAN initiatives to improve operational efficiency and productivity.


• Monitor daily fabrication operations and ensure work orders are completed according to production schedules.


• Review Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) before work commences and highlight any issues to welders and fitters.


• Select appropriate welding procedures and evaluate welding repairs and stress relief treatments to ensure compliance with international and customer standards.


• Review technical drawings and coordinate with relevant departments to resolve production issues.


• Participate in technical audits of third-party and subcontracted fabrication contractors.


• Investigate fabrication Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and implement corrective and preventive actions to meet quality KPIs.


• Ensure fabrication work complies with applicable industry standards, procedures and work instructions.


• Ensure inspection equipment, welding machines, flux ovens, welding rod heaters and quivers are properly calibrated.


• Review fabrication routing and estimated completion times for work orders.


• Manage purchasing and inventory of welding consumables, ensuring proper storage in climate-controlled facilities.


• Review actual production time against planned routing times upon work order completion.


• Manage employee overtime and leave arrangements to meet workload requirements and production schedules.

About you

• At least 5 years of experience in metalworking and fabrication.


• Hands-on welding or welding supervision experience using FCAW, GMAW, GTAW, SAW and SMAW processes.


• Knowledge of metalworking processes, offshore and onshore wellhead equipment, and ASME, AWS, DNV and API standards.


• Diploma or degree in Mechanical, Production, Materials or Metallurgical Engineering is preferred.


• Experience in the upstream oil and gas industry and ASME welding procedure design and qualification is an advantage.


• Welding or metallurgical inspection certification, such as API 650, and CSWIP 3.1 or equivalent certification are preferred.


• Good interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills.


• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.


• Willing to work overtime when required.
